My black lab Guinness is going to need someone to watch him in January when I am in SE Asia. In previous scenarios, I've kept him in kennels but he's a super active dog and he hates THE BOX. He ends up chewing on his own arms and losing 5-10 lbs when he is in little cages. I cant do it again.

Anyone know of a kennel or dog care facility where he can run free? I got him fixed and he has a great disposition.

You don't have any family or friends in the area that can watch him? If not, do you know of anyone you would trust to house sit? You could always pay them at least what you would pay the kennel.

I don't know if any kennel is going to let dogs run free, mateo. Sounds like too much liability and work. I do know the Man's Best Friend takes the dog out as often as you pay them to. You can also have your dog go through some refresher obedience courses as well.

    Good luck.

We always take our dogs to a place called Barkington Inn. It's out in Clear Lake though, so I'm not sure what part of town you live in. From what I hear, it is alot like Man's Best Friend. You can buy "play time" for your dog. They have people that work there during the day that will go outside with your dog and play with them.

I've always used Kelly's Pampered Pet Inn (on Hillcroft north of Richmond) for my large Rotty. He's always done well there. They have a pretty decent play area that they let each dog have some time in on a daily basis.
