plus, how bout we not make OKC better? We are going to be dealing with OKC and San Antonio forever. There’s no world where we should be helping either team get better.
The Spurs are in a really good spot. They want Risacher and have the assets to trade all the way up to #1 to get him if needed, as they have the #4 and #8 picks. The Spurs also control the Hawks future picks and they have others as well. Outside of possibly the Thunder, the Spurs are the best positioned young team in the league. If the Spurs want to - they can even trade the Hawks back their 2025 pick in exchange for #1 and pick 1,4 and 8. I doubt they do that, but the point is they can. They could end up with Risacher and Clingen if they were to do that - which would let them move Wemby to the 4 and give them an absolutely massive threesome between Wemby, Clingen and Risacher - and none of them are even 20 yet.
F*** you, Nook. I love you, man....but....f*** you. Whenever the Spurs succeed (i.e., whenever the NBA Draft Lottery saves them by gifting them Wemby, for example, because otherwise, so sorry, no one wants to live in San Antonio), a little part of me dies. No wonder Pops stuck around as coach.
there is no way atlantas 25 is worth this year number one. they would probably ask for 4 and 8 or 2025 and one of 4 and 8 If I was Atlanta I would say we’re taking rischare no 1 if you want him come get him
I agree with you straight up - but they can work out modifications and protections to make it equitable. It also depends on how fast the Spurs want to improve and what they think of Risacher and Clingan, as they are famous for their own evaluations being different than others. I am sure Atlanta would agree to deal the #1 pick in exchange for their 2025 #1 back and very basic protections on other picks. In this draft 4 and 8 would be my guess - and then it comes down to how good the Spurs think Risacher is. As it is - the Spurs are entertaining trading one or both picks for future picks. Agreed - but if I am Atlanta and I am offered 4 and 8, I have to think about.
so this is what I want to hear. It sounds like teams think they can give up less and move up to #5 & #6 to get ahead of Portland to draft Clingan. This saves us from ourselves; I don’t trust the rockets to make a better deal than just drafting Reed. I don’t want to trade with Memphis, OKC or the Spurs. Chicago isn’t gonna pay the asking price to move up that far. I’d be okay dropping back to Charlotte or Portland’s pick but will they pay the price? looking more like we’ll just take Sheppard…which is a really good outcome relative to what we were looking at with the #9 pick. Found money…be happy.
Trading back sounds great as long as it’s not for Smart and number 9. That is a **** trade. Not a fan of Clingan. Not at number 3. if we’re staying at 3, I’d take Sheppard and be good with it. This team needs more shooting.
My gut is telling me the Rockets are going to trade back for a later pick and some vet. I just don't see them taking someone at #3. I don't think they see anyone as having that payroll value.
We are in a better position than the Spurs. If we draft Sheppard. We will have better young talent than the Spurs at all positions (especially Center) except PF (if you consider Wemby a PF).
Hey check out the centers projected for the NBA 2025 NBA draft.....pretty early.......scary........not in a good way............ https://www.nbadraft.net/nba-mock-drafts/?year-mock=2025
