Great mid-range game, doesn't settle for 3's ... Able to come off screens well and clear space for a jumper ... Has greatly improved his long-range shooting skills ... Not a mad-bomber by any means, but does utilize the perimeter shot as part of his repertoire ... Smooth going to his left ... One of the best slashers in the country ... Consistently gets to the rim, pushing the ball to the basket before the defense can set itself ... Outstanding finisher ... Understands how to play within a system and rarely forces the action ... Excellent passer, capable of playing back-up point guard ... Adept at crashing both the offensive and defensive boards, especially to initiate the transition game ... A tremendous shot-blocker for his height ... Quickly explodes off the floor ... Solid ball-thief ... Can defend all three perimeter positions. Stat Stuffer: As a freshman, enjoyed a breakout game against No. 4 Arizona scoring 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting. In the NCAA Tournament, notched then career-highs of 20 points and eight rebounds against Oregon. Broke out as a sophomore. Shot 7-of-8, 10-of-11, 10-of-13, 8-of-11, 7-of-10, 10-of-15 and 11 of-14 in his top performances. Posted a season-high 27 points on 11-19 shooting in a loss to No. 1 Arizona. As a junior, recorded 24 points at TCU (9-10 FGs) and vs. Villanova (14-18 FTs) and Tennessee-Chattanooga. Reached double figures in scoring on 27 occasions. Fun Fact: Langford's given name is Andre, but he goes by his middle name, Keith. Keith owns the unusual habit of changing his sneakers during the intermission if he plays poorly in the first half. He also owns a pair of lucky socks. Six Degrees of MJ: Langford's former Kansas teammate Drew Gooden worked as a counselor at Michael Jordan's Flight School fantasy basketball camp over the summer of 2001.
I love the Jayhawks but Langford is not NBA material. He's more like 6'3" and is a horrible shooter. He's also Chris Dudley at the FT line. Good driver/slasher to the hoop against college level competition. He won't make it.
What exactly was the point of the 2005 NBA Draft if we never talk about the guy we drafted...we should have just drafted Johan Petro from France.
Why Langford? Kansas currently has at least 5 players with better potential than Langford on its roster......
It's difficult to have a Luther Head discussion without the thread breaking down into a series of Head jokes. Like it or not, that's the truth. And, although I certainly would not have selected Luther, I would not have chosen Petro either.
What's funny is watching each one of you guys talk smack about Keith Langford. One of you says something, then another one of you says something different to the same effect. What makes all of you look stupid is that a) Keith Langford wouldn't even let you run in a pickup game with him b) you never watched him play at Kansas, because if you did you wouldn't be saying all that crazy stuff c) you all are trying too hard to be like everyone else.. Its pretty obvious that he is good or he wouldn't have played at Kansas.. It's pretty obvious he is good, or the Rockets wouldn't be inviting him to training camp... Its also very obvious that Jeff Van Gundy and CD know what they are doing, despite the fact that they were ridiculed by guys on this board (probably you guys again) I dont mind seeing criticism on this board provided it has merit... I don't fault you for not having basketball knowledge, but if you are at least going to criticize, at least base it intelligently.. being a "r****ded" basketball player just doesn't do this bbs any justice... Thanks
Wow, somebody has a man-crush on the 'r****ded' baller. Relax man, themocity was probably joking, just like a lot of people are during the offseason...nothing worth getting your tailfeathers in a bind over.
What has that got to do with a discussion about a potential NBA player? I don't think anyone here is trying to say they are better then the guy.
It's pretty obvious that Langford is one of a number of camp invitees that are brought in to play against our roster players. And with 16 guaranteed contracts in front of him, he has no chance to make the roster. I don't have anything against the guy, but he's just camp fodder.
Calvin Thompson Ron Kellogg Milt Newton Rex Walter Cedric Hunter Darnell Valentine Adonis Jordan Jacque Vaughn Scooter Barry Mark Randall Richard Scott Freeman West Kevin Pritchard Carl Henry Greg Dreiling Greg Ostertag Paul Pierce Raef Lafrentz Danny Manning Kelly Knight Alonzo Jamison I seen 'em all. I even played pickup ball with a couple on this list, namely Richard Scott and Scooter. Langford is not NBA talent. If he were, then 90% of the players on this list would have had NBA careers instead of about 5.
Keith Langford is good enough to make the practice squad. But I don't see him becoming the 17th player under contract for the Rockets this season. Find a way to trade 3 or 4 expiring contracts for 1 expiring contract. Then we can talk about signing these bubble guys for minimum price. Until then, every free agent discussed is on the waiting list.
jackhammer... i don't think that people are saying he isn't a good player (despite some jokes) but at the nba level you have to do at least one thing REALLY, REALLY, REALLY well and keith doesn't do that. so at his 6'3 size and lack of PG skills he doesn't have what it takes to be successful at the next level.
I've been hearing about and watching Keith Langford since high school. He went to N. Crowley high, or Crowley High school, just outside of Fort Worth. He may make it someday to the NBA, just not this year. Maybe never. I don't think he's a good enough shooter or ball handler for the nba, especially for a 6'3" guard. He was able to play some forward at Kansas. That'll never work at the pro level. ~ Kountzer ~
