Today we are gonna see Bruce Bowan who is well documented as the game's premere one on one stopper. I truly think Keith Bogans is a poor man's Bowan he stays infront of his man and plays hard nose defense while on the other end of the court he can give you a key bucket or two and like Bowan seems to have a nose for the ball. San Antonio would not be where they are today without Bruce Bowan and I think it would benifit the Rockets greatly to lock up Bogans for years to come!
Bogans is a very very very poor man's Bruce Bowen. When he can guard Dirk and make him look like a girl AND shoot 45% from 3pt, let's compare them. Bogans isn't even a starting caliber NBA player.
To be honest, I'm not sure if there are that many similarities between them at all, aside from the fact that they are both role-playing wingmen. On defense what separates them is that Bowen is longer which makes him much more of a lock-down defender. That length means that it's much harder to beat Bowen because he can recover and still challenge the shot. On offense, their skills are totally different. Bogans is a streaky 3pt shooter, but is aggressive at penetrating. Whereas Bowen's offensive game pretty much solely consists of corner 3s. Overall it seems like Bowen is a guy that relies more on his length and quickness, while Bogans relies on his strength and grittiness.
Hmm I dont think so. Bowen gets under player's skin, just like Rodman did. He takes out the opposing players best guards/forwards completely out of the game. eg. Dirk, Marion.... Bogans is another James Posey at best. We got a James Posey replacement. That's all. That's pretty good actually. But Bowen is a far superior defender.
Lol I love these "With a shot" comparisons. So i'll go out on a limb (a broken one) and say that Larry Bird is Ryan Bowen with a SHOT.
[/Sigh]....I thought someone would be making some gigantic graph analyzing the statistical impact of Rybo vs Bogans, with complementary graphs analzying it per 48 min with a trend line and stuff throughout their careers. [/Shakes head]
