Since a loss on 3/3/2010 we have won every single game home and away when keeping opponents under 90 points. I don't know whether this is common, to have this streak or winning most games when keeping teams under 90 which the Rockets also have been in the last few years.

So what does this mean ? Is it just logic that when you keep a team below 90 and you average 5 to 10 points more than that, you are in a great position most games ? Does it mean nothing and just dumb luck and nice to know but that's it ?

If it in fact means something, do you guys feel we need to strive each game to keep a team below 90 points since according to stats we have a high percentage of winning those games ? Do you feel McHale should use this knowledge or already knows and already preaches it.

I think it does mean something since we are able to score more than 90 on a nightly basis easily and should strive for.

The goal should always be to hold every team to 0 points.

    Might be a bit unrealistic

I think it means that the Rockets have been a very good scoring team since then. So on nights when they play good defense, they have a very good chance of winning the game.

That should be the mind set though. One of the OP's questions was "do you guys feel we need to strive each game to keep a team below 90 points since according to stats we have a high percentage of winning those games"? Well, of course, we should always try to hold the opponent to the lowest score possible.

You can't really legislate for teams shooting 55%+ from the field, if they do then you aren't going to hold them to sub 90.

Just gotta keep working hard defensively and if they score 115, make sure we score 116.

The truth is, we score more points when we play against bad teams, and score less against good teams. Thus, we're mediocre. :)

We also have a long streak of winning games when we score more points than the other team. Let's keep that one going too!

Yates High School almost did it. Well not really but still dropping a hundred in a highschool game is bad ass.

    This.

If you can't win games when your opponent scores under 90, that means your offense really sucks.

On the other side, if you lost a lot of games where you scored over 110, that means you have a huge problem with your defense.

This is very very important. We have to be able to keep teams in the 80s consistently. Crucial.

When the other team scores less than we do, we are in a good position to win the game

The Rockets almost kept the Rockets under 90, too.

Well, it took overtime to reach 90 points, so technically they did keep both teams under 90 for regulation. Congrats on a great 2-way defensive effort.

Do any of you guys remember the old JVG days where Mcdonalds used to sponsor the rockets and give all the fans a free big mac when we scored above 100 or held the opponent to under 80? Its funny how its now a huge accomplishment to hold an opponent under 90. Still, its nice to see our defense picking up.
