I know he's retiring, but we just play much better with him.
Yao played from the taking charge Yao to the shot blocking Yao after Deke came back.
It's not just the skill and talent Deke provided. The mentality of the team was changed.

Can the Rockets hire Deke as part of the management or staff who's able to get close to the players and communicate with them?

I know my thought sounds silly but I hope this might actually work.

I think Stanley Roberts carries some weird Yao practice partner role with the Rockets. You could ask him to fulfill that duty. But Mutombo has way better things to do.

As much as we all love Deke, it is probably time to part ways

I would love to have him coach, but I don't think he's going to. He's the greatest human being to ever play the game of basketball and he needs to take care of his hospital. I really would love to see Deke coach, but It's just not realistic at this point. I hope Deke drops a line to Yao and tells him to keep playing D like a man though.

That being said Deke's got a world to save. ;)

Yeah I agree we need to keep him. Find him a good spot next to the players, some kind of tutoring your the young one's maybe..

Didn't David Stein reserve a position in NBA for him and he said he would take it after retire?

haha yea I know that wasn't really a realistic idea.

Now I hope the Rockets can continue to play well without Deke.
