I think Tierre is a better backup PG then Moochie, he provides much better defense and is a jet up and down the floor. In fact he is BY FAR the best PG at running the fast break. If any team calls about the Mooch, I would trade him in a heartbeat to get a quality big man in here. I think the Rockets would be better with TB at the backup then with the Mooch. What do you think? DaDakota
Tierre isn't experienced enough to be our back-up pg. did you see him trying to dribble out of traps and between people? He needs to learn first, however in time he might pan out to be something special...
I thought some more, and I want to change my vote. I'd trade Mooch in a second also. Of course, Mooch would only be a part of a deal for a quality big man. Tierre turns the ball over too much, and he can't shoot, but that may improve. Moochie will never be fast or able to play defense. Another thing to think about is whether next year will be more rebuilding or a run to the playoffs. If we are making a playoff run, do we want an unprove backup PG? If we're rebuilding, no reason not to go for it.
While I agree with the TO's, i disagree about his shooting. I think Tierre has a nice mid range jumper. When compared to Mooch, I don't really see a big gap. You can't factor in clutch plays - Tierre's never been there. I'm glad we have a pass first pg now. Only if he could get time. Did you notice he passed up his shot most of the times to set someone else up? Tries to get everyone involved, I really hope we keep this guy. Great team player too, always first off bench and celebrating.
You can't just use stats, but based on tonight versus the Memphis rookie all-stars, TB's stats were better than Moochie's and this was one of the few games TB's got significant playing time.
I voted for Mooch and stand by my vote, but if Mooch was part of a trade to bring a good 3 or 5 to Houston, I'd have no problem with letting him go and having Tierre take his place.
Getting rid of Moochie, is the only way that the Rockets will ditch the 3-guard lineup. You cannot say Moochie is a better backup PG then Brown, becuase Moochie is NOT THE BACKUP!!!! He gets starter minutes and he gets the starter playing time (down the stretch), how can you call him a BACKUP???
I like Mooch, but I think Tierre is the best playmaker on this team (I'm talking about finding the open man.)
Tierre Brown play's the point guard position well, he pushes the ball and get's everyone involved. Moochie slow's the game down and dribble's the ball entirely too much, I'd rather keep Tierre even though he tends to turnover the ball a lot. But that come's with experience..
I like Tierre better not because he is necessarily more talented than Moochie, but that he has an entirely different game based on energy that he exudes. Tierre pushes HARD when he plays, he goes for steals, he runs up and down the court hard, and he tries for fast breaks every time there is even a slight chance one might be there to be had. I like that, because that is very different from Moochie (and Steve Francis as well). Those two are comfortable slowing the offense down and dribbling dribbling dribbling until something becomes available. That is fine, at times, but I like having the option of Tierre with his different style of running the point.
I like Tierre a lot!I have see him playing only once, but i think he always plays with a lot of heart!I think he's really happy to play with Rockets! He's always happy when we win,not like Willis or Langhi who seem to don't give damn about it!I think we should defenitely resign him!And i agree with Raven that he goes for steals, runs the court up and down, tries to play good d and in my eyes a nice mid range jumper!he should improve his game!Perhaps he could be the backup pg in 2003!
100% agree. I would have no problem in a trade that involved Moochie and gained some inside presence (preferably at the 5 but the 3 would be OK). This scenario would likely obsolete the 3 guard offense (which I hate) thus allowing Steve & Cat to play fewer minutes overall. IMHO, Tierre Brown would be capable enough for 14 to 18 minutes with the balance of Moochie's minutes being shifted to the front court. Did anyone else notice the comeback against the Blazers started with "tall ball"? Collier, EG, and Langhi were on the floor when the momentum shifted to the Rocks.
I never understood why we gave him all that money to backup Steve anyway....I mean, not for nothin, Damon Jones could have helped us go 2-28 without Steve too...and he would have done it for a 1 year 1 million dollar contract
This Poll SUCKS! First you people chase off Mad Max, now you wanna get rid of The Mooch!?!?!?! makes me wanna spit on a kid!
There is no room in the NBA for a point guard who has no left-handed layup. It only takes a few tapes to see Tierre has no left hander. He'll be exposed the moment he gets more consistent minutes. Guys, he goes out of his way to avoid a left-hander. btw: I saw Tierre with his shirt off. Boy is RIPPED!!!! As for the fastbreak, true. But if he wasn't good at it, and we didn't use 3-guards like Dallas does requiring an extra PG for the 2nd team in practice, he wouldn't be on the team. I have a lot of reservations about a PG with no left succeeding in the NBA. While I like Tierre, imo, these guys are so dime a dozen, whereas Moochie is a keeper find. Moochie just needs to start hitting his wide-open midranges and keep learning with Francis and Mobley how to make half court reads faster. Despite the ISOs and PNRs, Moochie is our best interior passer.
Crispee, TB hit a left handed under the basket scoop shot last night. There are TONS of people who are predominitly one handed. Nash...Payton....to name a few. My point is that TB provides a different look, and a spark, something that Mooch does not do....he is a nice player...but I would rather have a change of pace off the bench. DaDakota
I have been a Brown supporter ALL year, I believe he should have gotten more mins. and Norris less. I like his style, energy, passing. He attacks the basket with authority, shoots well, and hustles on defense. With the exception of a few clutch baskets, Norris, in my view, has been unimpressive. He walks the ball up the court, still dribbles too much, and isn't there on defense. I would take my chances with Brown as a back-up.
The only bad thing I see in trading Mooch is.....ticket sales. A lot of people aren't in to stats and whats best for the team. Mooch is a fan favorite and if Mooch is traded who know swhat Houstonians will do. I for one am all for TB I like his game. Some say he turns the ball over too much, but I say look at Steve Francis his first year people said the same thing...There is always room for improvement. Mooch is a great guy....and I like him as a clutch player, but I think he does dribble the ball too much and is over paid! Moochie I like your hair and all but TB looks so much more promising right now! -Junkyard Dog
