Anyone know of a service that lets me keep an existing phone number but not have it attached to any land line? I've had the same home number for 15 years, so I'd like to keep it, but I don't need the phone. I'd rather just have it go to a voice mail with the ability to forward it to my cell phone if I want. I know services like Vonage offer that, but what if I don't have any broadband connection? When I move, there's a pretty good chance the internet/cable will be paid for by someone else, so I won't be able to control it. Can I get Vonage even if I don't have that broadband network???
you should be able to keep the number and just forward it to whichever phone you are currently using. When we moved the business office, we wanted to keep the numbers so we arranged to keep the number and forwarded it to a cell phone. The physical line that was connected to that number no longer exists, but the number does. I dont recall at the moment what the cost was for that service, but it is available.
Yes, its considered your number. You can take it to any carrier you want, including wireless and landline. Im assuming you already have a wireless line, you can port it in and have two cell phones ... or just simply keep the number as a rider w/out a phone and have voicemail.
Years ago, I switched from a land line to BroadVoice. They did not allow me to carry ovah the numbah and I had that numbah fuh-evah. I just let it go. I still use the old numbah for grocery discounts, but wut-evah.
