Is that a photo of him blatantly trying to take out the opponent by tripping him? I guess so...judging by the second photo.

You have to understand the history of the situation. Four years earlier Keane was injured while making a tackle on Haaland. While Keane was rolling on the ground, Haaland stood over him and accused him of faking the injury, but it turned out that Keane had torn a ligament in his knee. So, yes, he intentionally took out Haaland, and was sent off, the second picture is him yelling at Haaland to stand up and play.

Wow...that sucks...He was their heart and soul, maybe not the most talented player in the world but played with mad heart, very competitive-smart player and a great leader.

Man U's demise continues...Is Ballack still the front runner to go there? I heard rumors that Sir Alex Fergison was going to go after Patrick Viera because he wasn't happy there. That would be an awesome replacement because I don't see Alex Smith stepping into Keane's shoes.

Is that a "Soccer Oscar" he is holding up for best fake knee grab?

Actually, I think this will start a revolution of sorts at Old Trafford. I think you'll see a lot of young, world-class talent brought in over the next few years as we try to build our team like we did in the early 90s, with the likes of Keane, Scholes, Beckham, Giggs, Butt and the Nevilles. I also wouldn't be surprised if this is Fergie's last year at the helm.

Regarding Ballack, I personaly don't want him, he'll be 30 by the time he takes the pitch for United. We need long term players, not short term fixes. Same goes with Viera, and I don't think I could take him wearing our shirt. Alan Smith was absolutely brilliant against Chelsea, controlled the midfield the entire match and outplayed the likes of Lampard, Essien and Makelele. He's slowly improving, you have to remember, he's been playing in midfield for a few months now. I doubt he'll be the next Keano, but I think he can be a very good midfielder.

I don't think you can excuse that action by claiming context. Keane tried to hurt Haaland and did so. Pretty bad to intentionally hurt another player which he admitted in his book. But that incident (among others) in his career can't overshadow his dominating play for a long long period at ManU. Really the engine that drove them to so much success.

Scholes, Beckham, Giggs, Butt, and Nevilles were home grown. Anything like that in the pipeline? Who's the last homegrown player to make a big impact at ManU?

I don't know about Ballack - I think his game still has a good four or five years left in it. The question for ManU is the same as for Arsenal now though. Who can you buy without getting either snaked by Chelsea or robbed because Chelsea drives all the prices up. Sir Alex can't be to happy with a 10 mm pound 'warchest.'

I have a question for Winning 11 players. I figured out how to score. My problem now is that after I score, the other team goes into hyper drive and retaliates in like 2 minutes. How do I fend them off. Seriously. I've lost two goal leads because of this. My defenders are in the 500-800 range. Sometimes I even switch to the 5 man line and still get beat up. It's not the talent level of my players so much as striking ability of the offense. Should I try a certain strategy? A certain defense? It's the damn computer making every pass perfect. I can't stop them.

I'm on 3 Star by the way. And it's so frustrating to work 70 minutes for a goal and then constantly give one back up before the game ends. I know all about the "X" button and what not. I've tried using it, not using it, and it does't even matter. They are going to get the ball in the net. There has to be a good system to fend them off that I'm missing. I'm usually in the 4-4-2, but have tried the 5-4-1 desperately.

    HELP ME!

I was in no way excusing it, just giving some of the background. It's still one of my greatest memories of Keano though. But nothing will ever compare to the night in Turin in '99, when being down on 1-3 aggregate to Juve in the Champion's League semi, he dominated both Zidane and Davids in midfield and pushed us to a 3-2 victory, even though he knew that he would be suspended for the final.

Guiseppi Rossi is going to be a tremendous player, he's been scoring at will for the reserves and scored in his Premiership debut. Now if the US can only to convince him to play internationally with them instead of the Italians. Gerard Pique and Jonathon Spector (now on loan and starting for Charlton) are both
highly rated defenders. David Jones (on loan at Preston) may be recalled in January and given a chance to impress in midfield, from what I've read, he might be the best of the bunch. Then there's Kieran Richardson who is currently being forced to play LB due to injuries, but as he proved with West Brom last season, can play at a high level in the Premiership.

I thought the same thing about Scholes about two years ago, but he's been awful for the last season and a half.

I really don't see Chelsea bringing in alot of players in the next few years simply because they don't have anywhere to play them. But I guess you always have guys like Wright-Phillips who will sit on the bench and take the cash. Fergie has already said that he will no longer try to sign any player that Chelsea have interest in.

Yep. A lot of people refer to that game when talking about Keane.

Sure, but that's a long way from the class of Giggs, Beckham et al. I'm not sure if anyone will have a class like that again of guys who all came up together (although i guess Giggs was up a lot earlier than some of them).

True, but they're not the same kind of player.

I don't know. Roman is in the news demanding a clear out so there should be some room soon.

Well I am more of a FIFA gamer myself, but if the computer is "making every pass prefect," I would assume your midfield is not so good. Invest in a better midfield (this is coming from a FIFA player, so I don't know how career mode works in WE). Try playing 4-5-1, or 4-1-2-1-2, but REALLY I would play 4-2-3-1, not sure if WE offers these, but definitely some food for thought.

I hadn't checked my soccer sites, and I stumbled upon this. Really sad that Keano has left, he was the engine behind the team. But just as Cantona had left and a new era had started, now the same must happen.

This might be a huge sign that Ballack is knocking on the door, maybe Duscher as well. The Glazer's are cheap, but not incredibly dumb, without Keane, United need Midfield help. Especially since Scholes has been non-existent for the past few matches (except maybe against Chelsea). Fletcher and Smith are far to young to be leading their own midfields, but atleast Giggs, Ronaldo, and Park will be available. I guess Giggs Captains the team.. Like I said before, this might be a huge sign for a new player entering Old Trafford.

huh, I have never had that happen with the AI going wacked, but then I don't know if I ever went past the normal difficulty setting. What I hate in that game is how it lets the other team hold on to the ball WELL after injury time should be over if they are down near the goal and the score is close. Do they do that in real soccer? Because it's bogus.
