    KD is good.
but why is kevin durant so skinny and still be able to shoot high field percentage for a long period of time?
why cant lebron tmac pierce artest be that skinnny and be good?
Why do nba players want to get bigger?
why does the nba test max bench press anyway?so what if KD cant do a single bench press

Maybe cause strength has a lot to do with your ability to outplay your opponents (ie: box out, rebound, finish plays, etc).

Just an athletic freak. Probably has incredible stamina and lung capacity.

Go look at videos of Ralph and Akeem when they came in to the league. Pencil thin. Garnett is still pretty slim.

I remember Tiger a couple of years ago bulked up thinking it would improve his game, but in fact restricted his range of motion. Sure golf is a different sport, but thin just works for some.

The fact that Lebron can move the way he does a his height and weight is even more impressive.

This is truth. Of course, there are other things to consider such as technique, and for lack of a better word, "desire".

As for the McGrady comparisons, I see the similarities (tall, multidimensional guard/forward). But I think Durant will end up being more of a perimeter player than a slasher/highflyer like McGrady was a few years ago.

That's not saying Durant CAN'T become a driving inside scorer, but as of right now I think he'd be more successful sticking to his smooth jumper.

KD is athletic, but not an athletic freak by any means.

Tracy McGrady was skinny when he was Kevin Durant's age.

He will fill out over time. He just needs to be strong enough to finish around the rim although he pretty much just goes over most defenders.

KD is taller than McGrady. McGrady's listed height is 6'9, but his Draftexpress height is 6'8 (although we all know 6'9 is probably more correct since he probably grew since his draft days when he was age 18). KD on his draft measurements went 6'9 as a 19yr old and 6'10.25 with shoes. He might be closer to Garnett's build now with even more speed. There's never been anyone like Durant.

you need strength to do just about anything in the nba besides shooting....kd is good but he wont live up to a kobe or lebron without a bench press

Kevin Durant is easily my favorite player not a Houston Rocket. I absolutely LOVE his game. I watch every game of his I can. I'm STILL not giving up on Greg Oden, but barring an injury I think Durant could go down as a top 100 player to ever play the game.

As for tall and lanky players, then want to put on a little size and strength to be able to bang under the basket. At 6'9", he will eventually play his more natural position of small forward as opposed to a two guard. He should be able to 7-8 boards a game and that is just not going to happen if he can't box out.

Reggie Miller. If you can shoot, why lift weights?

I love his game. He's not an athletic freak but can you imagine someone with a center-caliber standing reach handles the ball like a guard?

Two years ago KD couldn't bench 225 lbs one single time. That is no longer true. Physically, the closest comparison for KD is KG. KG was every bit as skinny as KD when he was a rookie. In fact, KG looked almost malnourished back then. KD will fill out the same way. He will gradually gain muscle and strength every year while always remaining thin.

A few weeks ago, I read than KD had gained 10-12 lbs of muscle during the summer.

Rebounding is about position and anticipation. Strength is very important, but technique is essential. Basketball players have been good long before the weight-lifting revolution that seems to be taking place.

Still, it probably wouldn't hurt him to add a few pounds.

Durant is the guy I wish the Rockets would go after when he's a free agent, hopefully they'll have the money to do it.

He's gonna be a RFA when his rookie contract expires, not to mention that there's a great chance he signs an extension before that. The Thunder are buiding around KD who seems comfortable with the role of the leader on a young team. Kevin Durant is not available in the next 5 years imo.

Look for OKC to lock him up as soon as possible. Probably a pipe dream.

It probably is a pipe dream but if it were up to me, while everybody is waiting for next summer with Lebron, Wade etc....I'd be aiming for Durant. I doubt OKC would let him slip away though.
