Scouting Report: Lefty a superb athlete ... Great mid-range game, doesn't settle for 3's ... Able to come off screens well and clear space for a jumper ... Has greatly improved his long-range shooting skills ... Not a mad-bomber by any means, but does utilize the perimeter shot as part of his repertoire ... Smooth going to his left ... One of the best slashers in the country ... Consistently gets to the rim, pushing the ball to the basket before the defense can set itself ... Outstanding finisher ... Understands how to play within a system and rarely forces the action ... Excellent passer, capable of playing back-up point guard ... Adept at crashing both the offensive and defensive boards, especially to initiate the transition game ... A tremendous shot-blocker for his height ... Quickly explodes off the floor ... Solid ball-thief ... Can defend all three perimeter positions.

I thought you can't work out a player until the season is over. Can someone confirm this?

I like how they say "he doesn't settle for threes". Which usually means "he's not a good long range shooter". If he somehow joined the Rockets, the best he could be is a back up for T-Mac. The Rockets are loaded at the 3 and 5. Their focus is going to be on solidifying the frontcourt with a good 4 and perhaps developing a point guard from the draft. Let's discuss these news after the playoffs.

It would be great if a ton of HS players enter the draft and we get Wayne Simien. A little undersized but very active player.

He doesn't settle for 3s because he can't shoot 3's. His outside jumper is horrible and he is horrible at the free throw line. He can slash, but he is undersized at the 2 and 3 spots. But he can defend well. Would be an interesting late 2nd round pick, no higher.

I like him but I like Rony better. I don't think Simien's post up game is going to work in the NBA because of his lack of height and I don't think his face up game is that good. Most of his offensive comes from turnaround J's. Just not enough height to pull off that move against the Rasheeds, Duncans, Garnetts, Boshs, and all the other big PFs in the NBA.

First off, Rox don't currently have a 2nd round pick this year.

Second, isn't it odd how the scouting reports always talk about all the things lower picks can do, but on the top picks they talk about what they can't do.

Thanks for reminding us. However, not having a pick is no excuse for lack of preparation. Not that the two situations are equal, but remember the Hawks sent us Terence Morris at #34 for a future 1st.

It isnt to difficult to imagine the Rockets trying to trade into the 2nd round (future 2nd rounder + Cash) if they see someone dropping that they are interested in.
