The Texans have hit on recent first round draft picks with Brian Cushing, Jackson, and J.J. Watt. The jury is still out on Whitney Mercilus, and they have also used three recent second round picks on defense. The few positions that aren’t filled with a young up and coming player are filled with known veterans. This defense looks like it can be one of the best not only this year, but years to come if they can develop their young players correctly. Jackson is one of the big pieces of the puzzle.

He is just another reminder that you shouldn’t be too quick to judge young players. With enough time to develop, they could still become a superstar even if they have a slow start.

Go Kareem, shut all those haters (you know who you are) up predicting that you would never amount to anything in the NFL way back a couple years ago.

Lol... Superstar. There are only three Texans that would be in the discussion of "superstar" level. AJ, Foster, Watt.

Brian Cushing should definitely be on that list, as well as Ed Reed. I'd even say Johnathan Joseph should have a spot at that table, but he doesn't have the household name that the others have.

Duane Brown 1st team All Pro last season, 2nd team year before. Same number as Arian Foster. Thats right now a superstar at his position.

If its actually "in the discussion of superstar level", then yes Cushing definitely is in that discussion. Cushing got 2nd team All Pro in 2011, who's to say maybe if he stayed healthy in 2012 coulda snuck in a 1st team selection.

Superstar is a pee-pee game term. IMO the only CB that was ever a superstar was Deion Sanders. But that's just my opinion because again, "superstar" is just an adjective.

It comes down to work ethic. The guy is committed in becoming a great player.

He's no superstar, that is for sure. That being said, KJ's improvement last season was astounding and impressive. As ridiculous as this may have sounded a year or two ago, I feel very comfortable starting Kareem every week.

He was playing at a near pro bowl level last year. Someone could pul up the advanced stats to prove this but he's near enough to that level now. One more step forward and he could be an all pro.

As much as I would LOVE for him to be a "superstar" he was all time level bad his rookie year, and the problem is...

that sort of play will tend to resurface at one point or another in this career.

Lets hope he has another decent year before all this "superstar" crap is thrown around. To be a superstar you need to be a MVP type possibility player. Only Watt and Foster fit that bill right now.

I forgot that only your definition of superstar is right. Thank you for fixing that for me.

wow do people still hate on kareem???

kareem shuts his side of th efield down, when they needed him to cover a #1 he put a blanket on megatron..

if jjo can stay healthy im not worried about leaving either corner on an island..
