The upcoming album is not far off. Loved the first single 'Power', this is the 2nd single (just became available on I Tunes). Some of the lyrics are...interesting. Say what you want about the man, he always keeps it fresh. Love the fact that you just never know what he's coming with next. What you say Clutchies? <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/rudkeNEJk_s?fs=1&hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/rudkeNEJk_s?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
I don't care what anyone says. Kanye is one of the best rappers hands down. I'll be buying this one for sure
He is a good musician, but I would have a very hard time calling him a rapper, or an emcee. He is a pop artist...
Better song... <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/URpmpDj9nkY?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/URpmpDj9nkY?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Did you miss his performance for this song when he debuted it on the MTV awards? <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/5c4iCDebukY?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/5c4iCDebukY?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object> and SNL: <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yaGT26DZFdE?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yaGT26DZFdE?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
Kanye is truly one of the greatest rappers/producers of our time. Despite what he's been through and currently IS going through he continues to put out amazing music that gives off nothing but positive energy and strong messages. People misinterpret him so much, for example in the Power music video, but if you actually understood the concept you'd be be in shock.
I'm honestly trying to stay open-minded here, but that song is just AWFUL. Kanye's Casio keyboard skills remind me of Jimmy Fallon in this song: <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kWBKoPJnmkg?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kWBKoPJnmkg?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
there is something good in those videos. something i guess a little different. but it just comes off as really cheesy. the part where he gets real serious and still and starts singing through the vocoder thing or whatever is just plain stupid.
I'm a huge fan of KanYe and what he does. When 808's came out, ALOT of people trashed it, but it really changed the hip-hop industry and now alot more, what i call, alternative hip-hop artist are gaining popularity, like Kid Cudi, Lupe, etc. I also think that this new album will again be a game changer. KanYe doesn't care about what people think, and thats what I love, he just does him. Sorry he doesn't talk about the clubs and the girls every song, he's writing real music.
<br> I like Kanye as much as the next guy, but to call him one of the greatest producers of our time is a huge stretch. I mean, it is a really absurd thing to say. Also, what has he gone through that has made it so difficult for him? Kanye has had a pretty easy life so far, excluding the whole ordeal surrounding his mother's death. Since people misinterpret him, could you explain the concept to us? Because really, i'm not in shock. Kanye is trying to do his unique thing. It's cool. It's catchy and generally sounds good. But to call it a shocking concept isn't exactly a thought out statement.
Runaways is a great song. In fact, everything he's put out in the GOOD Friday series has been stellar (even the track with Bieber has grown on me). It feels like he took the best aspects of his previous 4 albums and meshed it all together while still making a fresh sound. And I don't think it's a stretch to say Kanye is one of the greatest producers of our time (limiting the discussion to hip-hop/rap producers). Sure, there are some others in the conversation, but I can't think of anyone of the top of my head that is clearly better/has a deeper catalog than Kanye.
<br> Off the top of my head: Dre, DJ Premier, Pete Rock, RZA, Timbaland, The Neptunes <br> I got love for Kanye, but I still don't think he's great as just a producer. Though I do think as a producer/artist/performer he is great...
