I saw this transcript from a radio conversation Celtics GM Danny Ainge had this morning: So the Rockets could pick him up for nothing. Or, the Celtics could hold onto him, and package him with a draft pick for someone who can actually play within the next 48 hours or so - or just keep him till the end of the year. Thoughts?
Kandi is horrible. He makes every team he joins bad. With Yao coming back, there is no room on the roster for this scrub.
Stromile Swift will likely be our backup center and sometime power forward, for when we want to go small and fast on the floor. (Of course, watch Stromile get traded tomorrow.) If we traded for Kandi, I'd say, send David Wesley's expiring contract and, maybe, a 2nd rounder to entice Boston into helping us out (otherwise, why would they make a deal?), then send Kandi and our first rounder for a player we want/need. Whoever that might be. For example, would Atlanta want Al Harrington to walk for free? Would Al re-sign with us?
The guy is terrible, I've never seen a 7 footer consistently miss layups the way he does, he also has no heart either. Him and Kwame Brown are probably the two worst number 1 draft picks of all time.
Please NO! Let's get healthy and make the playoffs. This team is going to be really good (as we expected before the season started). ESPN news last night mentioned a quote from Bill Russell which completely dogged the Kandiman. Basically, Russell said that Kandi makes every team he joins horrible. I thought that was pretty cold but probably true.
No. Here's my mental depth chart at Center... Yao...Deke...Swift...Baxter...Howard...Hayes...Kandi. For all practical purposes, we currently have 6 better C options. EDIT: The only Center I want from Boston is Kendrick Perkins.
He'll get picked up because every coach is like desperate woman when it comes to 7 footers. "He's not that bad" "I can change him" "If only he did this and this, then he'll be perfect"
He has no heart. He did fairly well in his last year with the Clippers which also was a contract year. Swift puts more effort than him.
Here's my mental depth chart at Center... Yao...Deke...Swift...Baxter...Howard...Hayes...Moochie...Kandi. For all (still) practical purposes, we currently have 7 better C options.
Pass on that. Here's a guy, like Kwame Brown, who is physically built like a great basketball player, but just doesn't have a lot of talent and who doesn't hustle all that much. There's more to basketball than being big, strong, and fast. People look at Ben Wallace and think that anyone who is put together just as well can play just like him - but that's not true. Ben has great court sense and the heart of a lion to match his physique.
