wow thats pretty crazy if portland did that they probably would lose a draft pick and imagine that most other teams would shy from trying to trade with them in the future. something about the portland team, they had a lot of promise a few years ago but right now I dont really see them as a title contending team, a damn good one but i think the Thunder took over as the darlings of the nba
I thought that physicals are done when players are traded? I would think that minny would have given webster a full physical before trading babbitt to portland.
I honestly don't think Kahn has any clue. Webster was always hurt, you'd think you'd take some caution with him.
Strange as previous posters said i thought you had a physical? Kahn prob waved the physical thou he is an idiot, he does not know the difference in up and down.
I guess this means then that they waived the physical Pretty stupid move, but then again Kahn!!! wouldn't be Kahn!!! if he actually thought things through.
Because he looks like this, the smug goofus: This is a typical Minnesota fan's reaction to Kahn after another blunder:
Dang. Now if it is proven that Portland did this, Paul Allen will be able to say he had a reason for giving Pritchard the boot. You know, other than ineptitude.
I think Portland can contend. They have always (like us) matched up well with the Lakers but the injury bug has derailed them. I think Wesley Matthews is the most underrated offseason signing this year. He is a huge upgrade over Martell Webster. They are deep and Roy has the killer instinct to take them on a run.
I don't see how they have a case. If they waived the physical, you'd infer they didn't care about his health. If he passed the physical despite an injury, then it's reasonable to say Portland wouldn't have known either that he was still injured. In either case, unless there's language in the contract of the trade saying Portland is still responsible for the player's good health, I think the receiving team should be assumed to carry the risk.
I wonder how these draft day trades go down. I mean, they can't possibly have the physical done before the draft pick has to be used. So if Webster fails his physical, what happens? Minny gets its Luke Babbitt back (whom they may not have selected if they kept the pick)?
