I've watched more games of his than all of you probably combined. Unless many of you enjoy watching Kings game on the dish which i doubt. I'm a little skeptical of this trade and here is why.

He plays absolutely zero defense. He is arguably one of the worst defenders ive ever seen in the NBA. I mean the guy is 6'7 and weighs less than 190 lbs. He is no match for bigger 2s and 3s like Ron Artest or Melo. He has missed over 20 games in each of the last 2 seasons. I know these injuries weren't serious, however it is easy to see why he gets injured ever year. He has a very thin frame and the NBA is tough for a guy his size. He is much more likely to get injured than others.

Since coming back from his injury this guy has looked terrible this year. His shot is off, he seems to have lost some of his confidence, and just overall looks like an avg player out there.

Notice i said I'm a "Little" skeptical because I think there are some definite positives to his game. For one the guy can shoot lights out. Yao will give him many easy open 3's that he will sink. He is very good off the ball as well. He is quick and athletic and works very hard on the offensive side. He doesn't have to have the ball in order to be effective like a guy like tmac. I just hope he stays healthy and learns to d it up.

Oh lord. Where do I start. First of all, as a former H-Town resident who lives in northern California AND has NBA League Pass for the last 4 years.. I watch Kings games regularly.

Its not that he plays zero defense his team plays no defense. Case and point.... Lewis and Ray Allen were the worst defenders in the world in Seattle.. fast forward a couple years and both are on the two of best defensive teams in the league in Orlando (last year) and Boston (Championship year). Basically, its a team effort. You can't come to Houston and not hustle your a$$ off.. its just how we roll, sorry.

We got two guys that play defense at the 2/3 spot, we needed offense and he brings it. The lazy eyed guy we had playing that stepped aside like a matador, as long as Martin will stay somewhat in front of his guy. We'll be ok

Interesting. Could you give us any more details about his game? I like watching some Kings games every now and then but maybe you could give us some more insight on why he's so bad defensively (is it fixable?) and how he scores (can he be dominant offensively on a contender?).

It seems like people are in love with this deal because of Kevin Martin. I think he was more like a sweetener to what Morey really wanted, a young big with size and draft picks for the future. It was more like two separate trades Landry for Martin, Mcgrady for Jeffries,Picks, and Hill.

All three teams seemed to really benefit from this trade. This wasn't "Moray iz God" stealing from some dumb GM's.

Its okay about his lack of defensive skill. He will always play the weaker of the 2 wings anyway.

Which is also why Battier won't be traded in the off-season, as so many are predicting.

    stole my exact thought!

You can see the improvements that Chase Budinger has made on the defensive end. Sure he's not a Battier on defense, but the key to playing defense is simply MOVING YOUR FEET...that's not very difficult to teach, just takes a lot of discipline.

Martin looks like he's quick enough, and smart enough to catch on.

Sacramento in recent years hasnt really been known to play tough defense. Our team relies on the defense so i'm sure he'll catch on fairly quick.

He may have to be taken out of games due to his small frame.

Going against the lakers( artest, kobe) bobcats (Wallace, S.Jack) mavs (Butler, Marion) teams with 2 wings that can post.

Which will lead back to the batrizza combo on the floor at the same time.

I dunno, Morey tried to trade Battier+Scola for Stoudemire at the 11th hour. I agree, maybe not in the offseason, but it seemed like he was about to take that risk.

Richard Hamilton is thin. Reggie Miller was thin.

I think Martin is in, or at least, near, the same class as those two.

The fact that OP expected a SG to guard a SF makes me question OP's Basketball knowledge.

That and I'VE SEEN SAC GAMES. Tyreke Evans is the next coming of Allen Iverson. He holds on to the ball and dribbles until he can get to the basket.

Evans is great but he is no point guard. I think OP's judgment is clouded by anger.

appreciate your perspective. however, he won't be guarding any 3's...Ariza and Shane will take care of that. Plus I read (note "read") that he actually played servicable defense when Adelman coached him.

    Yes, he will.

I doubt Adelman trusts him to guard the Kobe's and Wade's of the league, that's who Ariza and Shane will be checking. Martin will be guarding the worst offensive wing. Sometimes that's a small forward.
