Interesting how much better Ariza looks now that the team has Martin and he's playing more of a utilities guy role. He's still playing big minutes (while Budinger's minutes fell to the single digits) but trying to go one-on-one too much as made Ariza much less frustrating to watch and make the good part of his game easier to enjoy.

Ariza would look fine once Yao comes back.

A Lowry/Martin/Ariza/Scola/Yao lineup is going to fun both offensively and defensively. Bench scoring wouldn't be a problem either with AB.

WOW. a post of yours without some hidden, subliminal (or not so subliminal) sexual message and I agree with it. Yes Ariza looks better in his new role. The Rockets have many parts of a contender. Still as much as I like his game better now. I sure would like a more physical player on our team other than Lowry.

Yao is quite physical. Hopefully Hill can develop into one as well.

Not surprising to me at all. I've been saying it all along. Ariza's game flourishes with a good SG like Martin. A

Agree, he is free to roam around making plays while not having to worry about being an option. He should get tapes of S. Marion, study him and be his clone, that's his ideal role.

Ariza is a fine player when he isnt shooting 15 shots a game and trying to be a facilitator.

This is exactly why I want Ariza starting over Battier. Ariza with the first unit can pick and choose his spots, it's not necessary for him to be a primary scorer. He's shown he can make the pass, play solid D and just concentrate on more of the things that don't show up in the box score(namely 1-17). I think having Martin has actually helped Ariza play like the world is no longer on his shoulders, so keep him in the starting lineup

that clutch three he made was still a bad shot.

and he almost lost the ball before that shot.

but i like the way he is playing now. i hope he keeps it up.

Here are the minutes distribution for tonights game.

    T. Ariza 36:18
    L. Scola 39:44
    C. Hayes 18:54
    K. Martin 42:18
    A. Brooks 34:43
    S. Battier 24:50
    C. Budinger 04:03
    K. Lowry 18:07
    J. Hill 11:26
    D. Andersen 09:37

I would cut down on Battier by 6 minutes, and Ariza by 4 minutes. Give them to Budinger so he can have at least 14 minutes. He needs to learn how to guard bigger forwards so he can get some more minutes.

Ariza has no business playing more than 20 minutes

Did you watch the damn game? Ariza or Battier haddddd to be on the court or we would have gotten smoked ever more by Melo as sad as that sounds. Chase was ineffective tonight. Adelman made the right call.

when ariza isn't forced to be a playmaker he handles himself much better.

He used that bizarre hesitation move to get inside a couple of times tonight. He looked really good on the break, too. That give and go with Martin was pretty sick.

you forgot to add "was a stupid statement"

He played 25 minutes per contest with the Lakers last year in the regular season.

When it hit the playoffs, he lifted that number to 31.5 minutes per game. He played big minutes as an important piece of the championship team.

Yeah - fo sho Budddddddinger should get his minutes
