Raptors: Jerome Williams not seeing much time by Fanball Staff - Fanball.com Monday, October 13, 2003 News Forward Jerome Williams appears to be a casualty of Kevin O'Neill's new reign in Toronto, the Toronto Sun is reporting. Jerome Moiso has started both preseason games, and rookie Chris Bosh has been the first power forward off of the bench. Apparently Williams' energetic, gambling style does not sit well with the new coach. "We're not going to be much of a gambling team on defence," O'Neill said, in response to the question of Williams. "It has always been my opinion that guys who gamble a lot always would be better if they didn't." Views The Junk Yard Dog is pretty much all about hustle and making the big play, which coaches usually love. Not so with O'Neill, apparently. At this point, fantasy owners shouldn't have Jerome on their radar for the upcoming season
I don't think he will be traded but if The Rockets can get him we should go for it.He hustles hard, can rebound and plays defense. He is undersized against bigger 4's but he might be able to take some pressure off from Mo-T and Eddie Griffin. If we need to use the exception I would think about it unless we get a better offer.
Jerome Williams is a self promoting stat hound. He gambles constantly on defense, lets his man free so he can get a possible rebound, and is negligable on offense. He's one of those guys that looks good until you really watch him play. I think Toronto would trade him in an instant if they could find a way to dump the contract.
Moving Jerome Williams for some of our front-court dead weight (coughMoTaylorcough) would be a step in the right direction. Not sure why Toronto would go for it, but Williams would fit perfectly on our FM frequency (Francis-Ming). Good defender, board hawk.
