Originally I thought a couple of heavy-minute games for Yao shouldn't be too much trouble, until I read the following article at sohu.com. http://sports.sohu.com/20061225/n247251970.shtml Yao's statistics is up but his health is down, story behind the Rockets crisis (of Yao injury) A couple of brief notes: 1) Yao told the coach of CNT in the world cup at Japan: you can not always play me full time, as now I can't recover fast enough like I was in the early 20s. But then the coach faced the same problem as JVG does now: who else I can resort to? 2) Yao is way overplayed. His weight decides that 38 mins per game is a limit, but currently Yao was playing 42 mins a game lately due to Tmac's absence. (I orginally thought 4 mins more is not that much, but... the following words caught my attention). And that means Yao played one more game in two weeks. Now I know everybody is always crying that Yao played heavy minutes, but whos taking it that seriously? Especially during a time when Tmac couldn't play and we need Yao to carry the team? The fact is, if we need a healthy Yao in the long run, we need to rest him more otherwise sooner or later the injury is gonna strike again, as we all know, fatigue makes player more injury prone. So JVG, PLEASE limit Yao's minutes after he comes back. We need a healthy Yao much better than a couple of wins.
IBTL we already have enough threads of YOFs calling for playing Yao less minutes. we dont need anymore of that. and guess what, when you are in the NBA and you are getting paid the big bucks, u better be ready to play big minutes. I've never heard AI asking his coach to play him less minutes. the guy probably had more injuries than anybody in the league. he is 30 right now and he still plays 40+ minutes night in and night out. he actually played some 48 minutes games this season despite being over 30 years of age. I am sure Yao doesn't have a problem with playing 40 minutes a game in 7 games when Tmac is out. in fact, that's the reason why his game really improved. it's because he is getting more playing time to prove himself and get real experience.
While the toe injury Yao was sidelined last season was a sort of wear and tear injury (though freakish in nature, due to the bone infection), both of the broken bones Yao has experienced were totally random. This latest injury is especially random and unlucky. Yao may be more likely to experience broken bones due to his size (pure speculation on my part), but at least he hasn't experienced any ligament damage. Limiting TMac's minutes due to his back is much more likely than having to limit Yao's.
Yes, the rockets management might as well hire sina.com or sohu.com as their general manager, coach, trainer and doctor. Maybe Les Alexander should sell the franshise to them so that they can run the team however they want.
The more I read the post like this, the more I think Yao should demand a trade. Yao does not have to be royal to "fans" like this. Impossible!
seriously.. I think there should be some kind of consequences for posting a stupid thread. this post (even though it's not relevant or accurate whatsoever) could've been easily included in the "Yao's injury thread".
The more I read the post like this, the more I think Clutch should ban some members here. Clutchfans does not have to be royal to "fans" like this.
So I guess the big guy's long term health doesn't mean anything compare to 2 or 3 more wins in the regular season. As I said, I thought it is no big deal (to play Yao heavy minutes) at first like everybody here, but the article did catch my attention.
Yeah, he should demand a trade because fans want their star player to play star player minutes. God help us for being so horrible. And it's LOYAL, dumbass.
i've also never heard of any other 7'6 guys playing anywhere near the minutes yao has been putting up with. i dont think yao was having too much trouble with the minutes during this stretch, and it had nothing to do with his injury, but you should never compare big men to more athletic guard/wing type players when talking about endurance. thats wiggedy-whack.
I didn't blame the current injury in my entire post. It is undoubtly accidental. But heavy minutes could make the big guy more injury prone. And in 2 weeks he plays one more game? That is a shocking fact to me. Maybe some members here are too smart to figure out Yao is after all, a human being.
What you need to remember is that we were Rockets fans prior to Yao and seeing idiot YOF's posts are annoying. Perhaps YOF are the one's that need to go away. You are only visitors here because we (LOYAL Rockets Fans) will still be here after Yao is gone.
Good, you are telling the truth. That explain why you people treat players like commodity. And that is one of the reasons I said Yao should demand a trade. BTW, you do not have to use foul words in every single post to show your pride.
Like I said, "4 mins more for two weeks means one more game for Yao" is shocking to me as I never thought it that way. If you don't think so, ok, point it out. Forum is a place to share opinions, not one to dump your trash in your mind, or mouth, or whatever.
Idiot JVG should limit Yao to 5 mpg, since he got injured in the 6th minute. If Yao plays 6 minutes or more a game, fire JVG. Chinese players don't have the toughness to last more than 6 minutes in NBA games.
Speaking of dumping trash, then why did you start this ignorant thread? We go from "Yao doesn't have enough endurance" (which was a legitimate discussion point in the past) to "JVG, win or lose pleeeeeease limit Yao's minutes". If you didn't know this before, winning and losing is the whole object of playing basketball in the NBA! I'm so sorry this is hard for you to understand. That is exactly why the Rockets drafted him with the #1 pick. To the vast majority of YOFs that just love Yao for who he is, admit it up front, aren't militant zealots and contribute to meaningful discussion, please don't take offense at my comments to the thread-starter. They are not directed towards you. "JVG, win or lose..." That's all you pretty much need to read to know this thread of waaaay off the tracks.
Being a YOF fan does not really means the person is "idiot", or "annoying", to care about Yao only and regardless about Rockets do qualify. I am not sure if you are referring to me, but concerning about Yao's long term health doesn't make me a YOF, non does that concerns me. Bottomline is, if you cares about Rockets, you should concern about Yao's minutes, it is not the "no big deal since he earns the big bucks". Yao's limit is 38, so playing him 42 constantly is not wise. You may secure 3 or 4 wins, but you increase the injury risk of your most important player. Is that too hard to understand? Or is that too idiot to be reasonable?
I am not going to say anything about your earlier posts because Master Baiter did a good job doing that. I just want to tell u this: u dont get the point, if we treat players like commodity, why didn't u ask us to trade, say, Tracy Mcgrady? u just asked the Rockets to trade Yao Ming, so u can jump on his new team's bandwagon. u are the pure definition of a YOF, along with your friend Roxfan123 (whose Name should be Yaofan) you dont care about the ROckets, u just care about your guy Yao Ming, we all care about Yao, but I care about Battier or Hayes just as much. I am a rockets fan not because they have my favorite player, but because they have been since I was a little kid and I never stopped being a Rockets fan even when the team sucked and I will never change my favorite team. on the other hand, the likes of u and other YOF would jump off the bandwagon when Yao goes down and start blaming the organization ofr playing him too much. without the organization Yao would've never got to the high level he is in right now. the guy is really great and everybody loves him, but it's guys like u that mess up everything because all they care about is their favorite player not getting tired. if u dont want to get tired and sacrifice for your team, go play tennis or something. after all, it's not about 1 player, it takes 5 baby.
