cant you just cut francis some slack. Cant you just read the words that JVG himself said. He just blatantly said that steve had nothing he could do! When JVg was making that ugly face at the end of the game, it was at the 4 players besides steve. Even Rich said before JVg said that, all the other players were standing still.

We wouldn't want Steve making a smart decision on his own... it's not like he is an all-star point guard or something....

obviously, Van Gundy is trying to deflect some of the criticism off of Francis in order to keep his trade value as high as possible...

Many times I freely admit that I am pissed the way Francis runs out the clock at the end of quarters as we get bad shots. I have advocated us running a player and trying to score (even if time is left on the clock) leaving the last possession up to our STRENGTH which is defense. I am sure many people feel that is poor strategy.

However, last night Francis did look kind of stranded. Other than the pick, players just stood around. Could Francis have driven for a basket? Perhaps. But perhaps the play called for was a 3pt shot and he was trying to do what the coach wanted.

Francis makes dumb plays at the end of the quarter, but last night he didn't get any help on that either.

Man, you sound like a little baby. You basically state the same argument each time you post. He was to blame last night. Period!!!!

It's ok for Jeff to make excuse for Steve 'cause Steve is like a baby that needs cuddling, but Jeff needs to look at the game tape if he is gonna b**** at the other 4 players.

Look at the picture in the link and suggest to me where those other 4 players should be?
    1) Should they run around in circle just so they can't be blamed for standing still?

    2) Should they run to each other's spot on the floor and basically exchange places? (... and risk running cross Steve's path should he decides to take it all the way to the hoop?)

    3) Should someone set a pick for Steve? Oh yes, Padgett did.

    Any other suggestion?

Cutting Steve some slacks? ... that's what we, the team, Rudy have been doing time and time again ... I don't mind the mistake, what I do mind is the same one over and over and over again ....

isnt it JVGs job to set up a play, looking at that last shot, there was no one open and every other player was just standing around. Surely steve can't take all the heat for this?

No coach, not JVG, not anyone, is going to come out and say flat out. "Steve's fault we lost." Of course he'll make an excuse for Steve, because say he wants to trade him, he wants to keep his value up, and if he doesn't want to trade him, he doesn't want to further alienate him.

You can read into coach speak, and double talk, or you can watch the game and KNOW what happened. You choose to see what you want and read what you want, that's fine, but for those of us that judge people on their actions, and see the turnovers and bonehead moves, we just chalk this up to one more.

    1) JJ was open.

    2) Beyond that, what do you suggest the other 4 do?

    3) If Steve keeps bouncing the ball in one small area of the court, and not threaten to score, why should the other 4 defenders do anything except to stay with their men?
