I have been posting against JVG and for Spanoulis for some time now ( about 30 posts or something ) so I can't be considered objective but i'm Greek so i guess it's normal .I have 2 say that I don't like the way it's going down between the posters that support either one.
some are so fast to call the others dumb it would be the first word they'd type if they could in their replies .
I think what jvg did to Spanoulis was what he thought correct to do towards a euro rookie, tens of others thought it was wrong, tens of others thought it was right. what he did to spanoulis he did to bonzi and snyder and novak too ( tsakalidis partially and mutombo at the end). is that six players ? yes , six players were constantly playing garbage time or no time at all. Some will disagree about Bonzi ( he did it to himself etc.) but in the end 6 players got in VG's doghouse and never came out. I know a lot of people (and me ) were focused on him not playing span but in the end that was only part of the problem.
all of the above and the criticism me and others have thrown vg's way don't mean he's a complete moron ( though i did post that a couple of times) , he's a good coach but this year i think he was fighting himself and all the what if's he was thinking about : what if we lose the next game , what if we lose the playoff series, what if i play span and he makes another to (it's billy the greek rookie i better bench him) and bonzi and he has it his way, what if novak misses the 3pointer, mutombo is 2 old etc. etc.I read some reports all his players love him prolly not true unless they mean players like alston who instead of being benched was supported by vg all the time he was trying to make that damn 3 pointer ( and nothing else).
All i'm trying to say is sure the truth is in the middle sure spanoulis didn't dazzle anyone ( especially the ones that know his potential not just by reading stats) but deserved more chances and VG knew it, bonzi was wrong too coming in out of shape etc. etc. BUT IN THE END VG'S BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS ALL OF THE ABOVE PLAYERS WAS TO SOME DEGREE WRONG ,UNFAIR,VINDICTIVE AND PROVOCATIVE AND THAT COST THE ROCKETS CAUSE HE HIMSELF LIMITED HIS REAL OPTIONS AND MADE THE ROX GAME PREDICTABLE TO OTHERS AND BORING TO US.THAT'S ALL . If u agree or think otherwise feel free to express yourself in a polite manner ( if u can't be polite STFU already :)

Seriously, enough with these threads already.

I'm Greek too and guess what? I want JVG back. I'm tired of the Vspan asskissing and the JVG hating. As if Spanoulis would have saved our season. As if another coach would have done better with this crap team with a crap bench.

I'm especially tired of Greek posters who are more loyal to Vspan than to the Rockets. It seems we have a Greek corollary to the Chinese YOF phenomenon. the VOF contingent has hit CF.net...

I don't think JVG's "treatment" of a couple of rookies, a 45 year old backup center, & a nutcase is out of line at all.

Your assertion that he slighted Big Jake & Snyder is nuts, as well.

Big Jake is weaker than Mutombo's old ass. I sense the Greek bias there. Snyder played plenty pre-injury and didn't do great. Then he got hurt.

Seriously, JVG looks to be gone. Enough of this crap from the VOF's.

The same crap bench JVG failed to develop. Along with the crappy roster he helped create. JVG doesn't get a pass because if he had played V-span and Novak etc.... and they sucked with any real minutes he might have had some kind of defense when Les demanded results from him.

If he had played the roster he has he could have said I played these guys significant minutes this year and they didn't produce. As it stands we don't know what our bench guys are capable of outside of Head and Juwan.

So he's to be faulted for recognizing that the bench was crap & not playing guys who wouldn't contribute?

Does any sane individual think this crap bench, having played more, could have gotten us past the Jazz?

    Bwaahahahahahahhahahahaahahhahahaaaaaa!

Guess we will never know, but we do know that JVG's way didn't get us by the Jazz.

Neither did Don Nelson's - in fact that way failed much worse. Nice try though. Actually, wait, no, terrible try. Fitting because this thread is ass.

So, once JVG is gone does that mean that the JVG fans will also bolt?? If so good luck following him in his next stint.

As a Greek wko is a lifelong Rockets fan I agree with many of your points and I as well would like JVG back for another season but he won't be here.

Big Jake is better than most NBA backup centers and should be resigned and Deke should be let go IMO. Your right Span made his point and now he should shut his mouth and play. Also I agree that guys like Snyder and Lucus had shots this year and blew it.

When the new coach looks at this roster he will see three guys who have potential to play a role on this team that were non factors last year (Span/Novak/Snyder) it's up to those guys to make an impact.

also don't forget that Nelson is a first year coach with GS, and his team had lots of injuries and new players that came in late in the season, and came off of a big series against the best team in the NBA that wiped us harshly in the last 3 years.

OH don't forgt Nelson also working with players who have been called coach killers and still was able to work with them to benefit the team.

one more... how about the suppoert that he got from the fans in the city with the biggest attendance in NBA history.
