Luther is our best backcourt defender, the quickest, most athletic, and he is a pretty good offensive player. Sure he will make some rookie mistakes but he is way better than David Wesley. Luther is not a true PG but who is now a days. Luther should be getting around 20 minutes a game with T-Mac gone.

Head's confidence will improve by getting more minutes and his mistakes wll decrease with time.

Theres nothing wrong with a little HEAD here and there. But seriously we need that youth and energy, because we looked dead last night.

I agree. He's fearless for a rookie and it seems like anything couldve helped us in that game anyway.

All immature and unoriginal Luther Head jokes aside, Van Gundy has shown in the past that he doesn't like playing rookies, no matter how well they play. It is the reason why he has never developed any young talent. I agree that Head deserves playing time - he brings more intensity and is a much more clutch player than anyone on the floor in the final minutes of last night's game.

We hear this alot, but what rookies did JVG ever hold back, that in retrospect, ended up being legit rotational players later on? (honest question, because I don't remember much about NY's draft history when he was there)

I don't believe this at all. Last year Andre Barrett was getting time. And Boki was getting time in the playoffs against the Lakers. If Head deserves to play, which I think he does, he'll find a way into the rotation.

Head will get more playing time just because T-Mac is injured. Luther has a golden opportunity to parlay this into the becoming a primary rotation player replacing DW. He is capable of improving the Rox offensive and defensive flow and if it discernible when he is in the game then he will play and DW will sit. JVGs job is to put his best players on the floor, rookie or no rookie.

I wanna know how Head's role will develop on this team. It'll only be seen through playing time. Hopefully, he'll be our new Mike James off the bench in the future. If he's a defensive stopper at the 2, I'm happy with that too.

Luther Head has the talent to become at least a Sam Cassell for us. I think some of you guys underestimated Head from the start. He is as good as any guards we drafted in recent memory. I totally agreed that Head should get more PT, maybe play more than Wesley, he gives energy, fearless attitude, active hands, good shooting whenever he comes in.

Only problem with playing head more is who backs up alston then? If head plays more minutes at the 2 then when alston needs a rest that'll probably put moochie in. Scary thought :(

They can play Head and Barry in the backcourt together. Both can bring the ball up the court and if DA is in the game then thats one more person they can use to bring the ball up.

Just another vote to see LH getting more playing time. Dude seems to be ready, and we could use the help.

Come JVG, in a time of crisis conservatism will restrain the depleted Rockets. A couple of TOs from rookie mistakes can be compensated by Head's game - youthful exuberance, athleticism, hustle, defense and shooting! Don't play it safe, experience can't compensate lack of game, a nice game can compensate lack of experience.
