Guys we have all been on the guy for his coaching and it is about time to get up and give him major props!!! Here is why. 1) I like the way he is getting more min. for Bonzi, slowly. Bonzi is getting more and more confident with every game. For every game there is an airball free throw JVG sits him and the next game he further along. Bonzi is going to be huge for us at the last 1/2 of the year. 2) I like the way he has reeled Rafer in a bit. It seems like he is more under control, less turnovers, better shots. He just looks a lot more comfortable. 3) I like the way he has sold the entire team on D-fense. This is one of the biggest challenges that he's had to overcome. Todays NBA player doesn't want to put the effort in every play to play JVG D. Every player that gets on the court knows his role and has to play hard continuously. We have the best team Chemistry I've seen since mid 90's. 4) For the first time in years our Offensive player spacing looks like they know where they need to be every play! This is a huge thing for me. I couldn't help watch the Spurs, Pistons, and even the Mavs over the years and notice how different we looked from them, from Offensive set to set. Biggest Challenge is going to be 1) Getting Head back to McGrady injury form. He is a big key for us off the bench. 2) Getting the guys to play the same way while injecting Yao back into the team Offense. (I THINK THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE) 3) Finding a role or few mins. for Spanoulis, Padget, Novak and JL3. I would like to see T-mac getting a couple more mins rest per game.
We are getting better at finishing teams off. I would like for him to be able to make quicker adjustments when teams like S.A. and Dallas begin to make runs in the 4th. But come on, we are getting better, and better.
Just for future reference, in the GARM it is appropriate to praise JVG for the following and ONLY the following: 1. Defense 2. Telling it like it is 3. Dry sense of humor 4. His disciplinary nature In addition, you may criticize him for any of the following: 1. Offense 2. Being too honest 3. Being humorless 4. Being too much of a disciplinarian Other criticisms including his inability to develop talent, his penchant for trading for former players, his love of New York and anything related to a Rockets loss are acceptable. Carry on.
i am always amazed at how much hate jvg generates in some people. BUt love him or hate him, you cannot deny that, at the very least, JVG is a good coach. about returning head to 'injury mcgrady form'...i think that yao brings out the best in luther b/c he can spot up more and get better looks
The Rockets are 27-16 and just 3 1/2 games out of the 3rd best record in the West(and league by default). All this with T-Mac missing 2 1/2 weeks and Yao out over a month with at least another month and a half to go before his return. Not only is he doing a great job, he should be the frontrunner for Coach of the Year if the team keeps up this pace.
They have fungal ointments for that, you know. Maybe he is going to the same psych that Monk goes to and he has been able to work through some issues the last coupla years. He did not pull a Derek Anderson on Vspan.....yet! The offense, even with all of the injury problems is beginning to look better, with more movement; I would still like to see Head cut to the hoop more but I realize that is hard with everone else we have in line ahead of him and the fact that this is not a running offense - and Luther would probably get better looks and cuts in that type of offense. The D is great, Bonzi is being given the opp to contribute more and more. Maybe we could loan our 9-12 guys to Phil Jackson, let him play them some regular minutes and then give them back when they are trained. Or send Vspan to the Toros for a month. K?? Now let me review Jeff's Official JVG posting rules to make sure I am in compliance. I'm not oozing any stray hate am I?
luther isnt great at finishing in the lane. He has improved a lot from last year but he still needs some work. Also, when yao was playing, luther was cutting to the basket much more...especially after the entry pass. i know luther finished a couple of reverse layups off of that and snyder had a few as well. also, whoever said jvg was humourless...i have to disagree.
Yep, his comments about the team after the Denver debacle made me take a 2nd look. I still don't agree with a lot of what he does, but he is growing on me...and I do appreciate his honesty. DD
Go figure. Forget the fact that his style is the exact same that it's been for years now and he still refuses to play the scrubs you so curiously drool over, we beat probably the best team in the league and now "he's growing on [you]." LOL, you are without a doubt the most fickle person in the history of this board. I'll give it a week.
Jeebus! Is it really still this long until Yao's back? I've just been refusing to think about it, hoping I'll look up one day and it will be the end of March and the big man will be back on the court. Denial is seriously underrated.
Holy Crapola! Now if only we could get rid of PETA and silence this nonsense about global warming all would be right with the world...
Your better get to your doctor, fast, you may have the clap. You know that painful stinging feeling you get in your urethra, very similar and easily confused with the sting you get when clapping your hands for JVG!
