Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy said time would solve McGrady's issues.

"I just believe in his greatness," Van Gundy said.

I thought I'd bring some balance to this forum, be the John Kerry to your George Bush. :)
Let's search for some perspective. Tracy has had bad stretches in his career (like all players do) even when he has been healthy. Right now he's coming back from an injury and trying to get his rhythm back. He's also having to adapt to a secondary role on the team, something he has not done in years. Tracy of course, is Jordanesque when he gets in the zone. Even if he was 100% confident with his game right now, there is an adjustment that he has to make and picking his spots to allow Yao to shine.
In addition, we have a a bunch of new players and in due time, he will feel more comfortable with them and make them beter. Spacing was terrible last night. It will take a little time for the chemistry and comfort to be there every night. These guys have never played together, The Spurs have been together for years. If we have little patience and enjoy the growing and coming together process, things will be fine.

Bottomline is, great players adjust. If he plays like this a month from now, your worries are warranted. Until then, I look forward to collecting some quotes from yall so they can become legendary clutchfans CLASSICS.

The whole hoop-la over T-mac is silly. If his back is fine which they say it is, then we have nothing to worry about. Nothing to worry about at all.

At least someone believes in Kerry...ERr..T-Mac! :D

I believe Tracy will round into shape soon enough. I will give them more than 3 or 10 games before I go jumping off buildings or building my float for the championship parade.

Too early for this type of support, but if you have your coach believing in you, cool...T-mac obviously isn't what we all expect, but again, its only been 3 games, so many more will be played...I'm not worried...

Thank you sir. I need to update the pic, that one is about 5 months old. But we have been so busy lately. She had open heart surgery last week at Texas Children's Hospital.

Considering where Tmac was last year, I'm just grateful he's back and healthy. If it takes him 1/2 the season to find his groove, I'll take it!!

Wow I hope everything went well and that she's pulling through that fine. What happened if I may ask?

A nice way to look at it is how we started the 04-05 season. We didn't gel until December when *gasp* Mcgrady single handedly destroyed the Spurs. He's scaring me right now, but because of his past I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he can return to his former glory. He doesn't want to be the new age Grant Hill...

Some advice to TMac that my high school coach gave me:

    "Don't think, just shoot."

She had several heart defects. 2 holes, a narrowed arotic valve, a thing called PDA, which is an extra artery. Pretty scary stuff. Last monday she was in surgery for about 8 hours.

    but on to basketball

I think Tracy will pull out just fine. But I wish he would go to the basket more.

Or he could develop a fade about 10 or 15 feet from the basket, not unlike Jordan's after the first "comeback"

I dont know if thats the right approach for TMac. Shot seection has been poor and the timing of some of his shots are even worse. i.e. in the Jazz game when we were making a run in the 4 q ...he should have drove to the lane or taken mid-range jumpers. I dont want him taking long 2's and 3's in that situation.

I believe Tmac when he says he's hesitating and thinking about shots. Tmac has been the #1 option his entire career and but now he's adjusting to being #2. He's going against his natural reaction and instinct and that could hamper anyone. Hopefully he'll get around to it and find his shot in the natural ebb and flow. I think if he has the ball he should just go for it if he feels it. I know he's been off the first 3 games, but it's been THREE games and it's TMAC.

It's not just about missing shots or adjusting to the team. The guy is having trouble beating people off the dribble. He is having trouble staying with his man on defense. Simply put, he isn't showing his trademark athleticism on either end of the floor.

Personally, I think he is in horrible shape and should round into form in a few more weeks. What bothers me is that he didn't keep up his conditioning and shooting over the summer. You can practice free throws and do cardio with a bad back.

The problem is not whether we trust TMac or not. Instead, it is whether he has self confidence or not. I don't think he does, at least for now. He doesn't have toughness and urgency in his mind. Fans always want 100% or more. It is this desire that we have BBS. When they do well, we cheer for them; when they perform badly, we feel sad :D
