Now that Jvg is playing V-span some I've noticed that his confidence seems to be down. He's thinking to much and he's not playing his game. He's playing like a guy who's afraid to make mistakes instead of guy who can take it to the basket and create for his teammates. Most of the time when he gets the ball he just passes it away even at times when he's open. I know Yao and T-mac aren't about to be replaced by V-span, but he's a player that can do a lot more for this team than he's currently doing. Jvg needs to play V-span as the primary back up PG to Rafer. He's the best defensive guard on the team besides Snyder and he can draw the defense to himself with his dribble penetration and create for his teammates. This would take some of the play making burden and ball handling burden off of T-mac. V-span is not a catch and shoot guy like Novak. He needs the ball in his hands and some isolation type sets to be the most effective.
i do agree that vspan seems a litle tentative, but he's getting more confident. jvg had that effect on tmac his first months in houston.
VSpan will be alright. The more he plays he will adjust to the style being played in the NBA. Like he stated before he is used to the ball being passed 5 to 7 times during an offensive set compare to the NBA's fewer passes.
Poor JVG. Whatever he does, he is wrong. Sit V-Span, the fan is screaming. Play V-Span, fan is still screaming JVG uses him wrongly. I bet T-Mac shooting woes is also the result of JVG asking him to be more of a playmaker. Also Yao's high turnover and inability to grab rebound is the result of JVG using him wrongly at the post.
V-span ain't ready for stiff competition yet. Give him a few more months, then he'll be more comfortable. Throw him in when we need more energy for now. His spot will be taken in 4 weeks or so when Sura's back.
True. One big difference though is T-mac has about 40 min a game to figure it out while V-span has 10-15 mins. I realize he can't be a totally free willing 5 TO a game guy, but at the same time he can't be afraid of making mistakes. Now is the time to make them so that in the playoffs he'll be a more refined player.
have you ever thought that Vspan's hesitation is because he is still getting used to the system as oppose to JVG hounding his as*?
It seems like guards are always very tentative when they first start playing in JVG's offense. We saw it with Steve, T-Mac, and now V- Span. It might just be the conservative offense more than JVG yelling at them.
blahblahblahblahblah probably has nothing at all to do with VSpan playing with a new team/new system/new league.
and which rox guard/s would you say outperforms him against stiff competition? i saw him with plenty of confidence in his first game and when playing in Greece.
How I wish that we got the pre-ruined VSpan back.. The one who had the confidence to average a TO every 4 minutes.
I have to say VSpan played bad last game without crossing, entry passing and shooting. The team doesn't need a guy that can only pass when he is even wide open. Something goes wrong in VSPAN's mind but whose wrong it is. I'm trying to blame JVG but his attitude to the new guys sucks. Even to our most potential star player?
