Also we know Posey will likely be signed back up [OP] The guard pursuing shows a few things: -rockets want to address the guard problem first. -they're not going after big names - underachiever types even at that. we can expect: - no big deals coming (especially with "bad" contracts mooch,rice, taylor, cato)... therefore most likely no brand - small transactions involving underachievers to fill the spaces around core of francis, posey, yao OP reported "Mobley packing bags to Pussyland" we can guess: 1. He's having fun being a bachelor 2. He's joining WNBA - (reference Jouwanna Mann) 3. Role will be decreased 4. Will actually be shipped somewhere... the reported guard searches and MacBeth's "insider" is evidence towards Mobley truly being shipped off (to some extent, JP's signing as well... Posey's possible role as SG and not wanting to deal with paying mobley in future). So, shipping Mobley off and pussyland. Mobley could be shipped for all kinds of value or perhaps used to make some flexibility with cap space by removing a large contract. For some bias, I see Pussyland as L.A. (inferred from Lakers recent lack of balls moves [Glove/malone] to just get the ring). Therefore, mobley to LA Clips for -> piatowski + whoever (zhizhi?...) sounds most reasonable to me.
This has been mentioned before, but if the Rockets got Wang Zhi-Zhi it would adversely affect their relationship with China because Wang defected and China is not happy. This would make China very uncooperative with Yao's availibility.
Mobley's contract is not large compared to similar players. Also, why would we sign and trade Mobley for Pike when we can sign him out right (Free Agent) for like half of our exception? If Mobes is moved, your idea of it being for Pike and some filler would be a blunder. Case closed.
my trade wasn't the idea i was trying to get across in my post i'm not a "trade-ologist" and i don't know what will work... what i was just trying to get across is it seems mobley *will* be moved and someone like piatowski acquired. i infer we will make no large deals and something like mobley going to the clips was a reasonable line of thought. he could also be used to somehow dump a large contract
Again, Mobley's contract isn't large, Pike won't be a starter here, and he can be signed straight up, so we aren't moving Mobley for Pike or someone like him. If we move Mobley for another shooting guard, then it has to be somebody who can at least get us 15 ppg and play some D. I just don't see anybody out there who meets that criteria who is available. We still don't know what pussyland is either.
I was under the impression that Wang never intended to return to China. If he did, they wouldn't let him come back to play in the NBA. How is that not defecting, for all intents and purposes?
