JVG was questioned by a cross section of Rocket Fans and avoided giving any substance in reply to the questioning minds. Then the last question was so pointed that he had to say something. The fan asked "How will you be able to get Yao Ming, Steve Francis and Cutino Mobley to play together". He answered by saying that only by the sacrifice of each, would that happen.

Some of the other questions asked and answered went like this :

    1) Regarding Posey : it was a cost move. He would have loved to keep Posey, but the cost in keeping him was too much. I started listening to this response about halfway through his response, so if someone heard differently, please correct me.

    2) Regarding we need power forwards that can rebound (the fan said PF's should be double digit rebounders or at least close to it): Griffin and Maurice did pretty well platooning, and they did well for the amount of time they were in there. He seemed a bit hesitant with this response.

    3) Regarding Mobley and others' continual pounding of the ball and ISO play leaving little time left on the clock : We always tend to look at the 1% that's bad in players and ignore the 99% that's good. If we decided to trade Francis, just about every team in the NBA would be lined up to acquire him. We need to be happy for the 99% and not worry so much about the 1%. He said he was happy to have Mobley and Francis in his backcourt.

    4) Regarding running the ball and fast breaking : I will demand (emphasis was his) that we run the ball, but not just run it, I will demand that we run it well.

    5) Somebody correct me on this one as I may be remembering incorrectly. Regarding playing time : playing time is earned, not granted. I think he pretty much said if you continue making mistakes you get benched. However regarding any rotations or playing time, he hasn't made any determination yet. He said he won't until training camp. Again, I may have heard that wrong, so someone correct me.

If I remember anything else, I'll post it later. I think we may have missed some of the questions since we were walking around the concourse. I wonder if anybody asked about Badiane.

Thanks to rockHEAD and pradaxpimp for tagging along with me as we made our way around the stadium taking pics and scouting seats. :D

I think I remember him saying something about everybody will earn their minutes.

He said he was going to start fresh with the lineup. Something like that.

    Who took pics?

Check the thread about the open house in this forum and a similar thread in the Rockets Arena Saved forum. rockHEAD has posted some pics.

Let's try to keep this thread to JVG and his comments. :)

this event was very dissapointing. No players at all. Lockerrooms were CLOSED because of "construction". False advertisement in my opinion.

I believe that the actual question was "How many minutes will Nachbar play this season?". His initial answer was something like "How well Nachbar plays will determine how many minutes that he gets. He has to earn his minutes". Then he went on to state that everyone starts off with a clean slate and that playing time has to be earned not granted.

The other interesting response was when he was asked if the Rockets would make the playoffs this year. JVG's reply was that if you were a professional player or coach, then your goal should be to win a championship. He said that all he cared about was things that got us closer to winning a championship. He wasn't concerned about any other goals.
