I rarely ever watch him play or follow his developement, but judging from his stats he's pretty damn good! Check it out...

    juwan howard stats

I mean those are good numbers all across the board for the exception of assist and 3pt shooting, but its ok since he's a forward. A career FG% of .471:eek:
Most player would dream of having that kind of stats. He averages almost 18pt and 7 RB a game.

I hear soo many people especially the Magic's fan calling him a cancer and most Rockets fan don't even want him here. I don't understand? Can someone please convince me that he is no good....maybe there's something about his game that I don't know.

Dude is consistent, I like it. I think with JVG, he's gonna be a great player for us.

Shave two years off his contract, and most complaints would go away.

He is much better than Mo.T now. 5M vs 8M.

If CD can unload Mo.T, we should name him as Exec. of the year.

He just has had bad luck being on bad teams. I think he will be a great contribution to this team. Him teaming up w/ MoT and maybe EG will be awesome.

If CD can unload MoT for a reasonable contract, not only it makes him the GM of the year, but also it makes someone else moron of the year.

I don't know what the deal is, I guess he needs a lot of shots to be successful. And maybe it seems he is moving in sand, a bit like the crab crawler, Mark Jackson. But the stats are there. The field goal percentage is pretty impressive. I do think, if he stays, he will be a better option as a first scorer off the bench and can see him playing a role similar to the one Antwan Jamison played for the Mavs last year. I don't know where that leaves Mo Taylor though.

It's not his offense that is the problem. It's his lack of defense. On a team that makes its living playing D, we are very weak at the 4 and have no one to back up Yao at the 5.

That's why you are hearing so many comments about Howard. He'd make an excellent backup/change of pace guy if it wasn't for his contract. Kind of like another Houston "power" forward. Keeping both of them just isn't acceptable if we want to be a top defensive team.

I've never been able to sit and watch him play a whole lot either but reading game recaps through the years along with what little coverage he gets in my area I've never seen a problem with him besides the fact that they greatly overrated him when they drafted him. He didn't live up to the size of his contract and he's never been able to live it down it seems. He may not be a great player but he's always seemed consistent. Speaking of which I've consistently seen his rebound totals be higher then MoT's. I dunno how his speed factors in these days but if JVG doesn't start him he should definatly make the two compete for it. Give it to who actually earns it. From what I've seen though I'd go with Howard starting.

His got Pretty good Range for a big guy!. also his no slouch off the dribble either. has some low post moves too... Look he has the talent to help us, but he and MO are pretty much Similar players. Juwan for me is an Upgrade over MOT!.

It's not that he's awful it's just that he's not much better than OK. Another way to describe him is that he is a Mo Taylor who remembers to snag a rebound now and then. As for being an upgrade over Cato, offensively yes, he actually has an offensive game but he is not a shot blocker and his shots get blocked a lot because they are sort of flat in their trajectory.

No way is he even close to being in the class of Duncan, Nowitzki, KG, Wallace, even a Malone and as such, he doesn't improve the Rockets ability to compete against those guys. He's just...OK. He's actually a backup but he's paid too much so he starts. I have watched him play at Washington, Denver, Dallas and Orlando and I am not really a fan but he'll help. With him as PF, they now have a bit of a height problem on the front line. I still expect teams to concentrate on Yao and T-Mac and dare him and the rest to beat them. If that happens, trouble because Howard does not have the skills to make them pay for ignoring him. He may actually be a little better in JVG's team defensive scheme but only time will tell.

This is a typical example of a player who has decent stats but has little impact on the outcome of a game.

I think he'll be good for us, as LA proved its pretty hard for a team of superstars to all play consistently well together and as a team. Howard will give a consisten solid performance night in night out. He's good for the team.

He never seems to block a shot. Some points, some rebounds, more or less decent percentages, not much else. Sounds similar to Mo T, if you ask me.
