I'm sorry to say this, but I really think everytime Juwan is out there, our team becomes one-dimensional on the offensive end.

Everytime Juwan touches the ball, he looks to pass for about 2 seconds, then he goes to work, regardless of incoming double team, and throws up a turn-around hook..

Everytime juwan touches the ball and he's semi-open, he shoots, regardless of an easier shot somewhere else.

Everytime juwan passes, it's an inefficient pass that basically means he concedes to the point that he cannot score that possession.

He tries, in futility, to hustle as effectively as hayes, and his mentality in offensive sets is all wrong. He is taking away from the effects of ball movement and needs to open his mind to "the moment decisions".

I say this because everytime he gets the ball, i can accurately predict what he's going to do with the coverage given him.. i'm sure coaches can do this, too.

Also, I hate the fact that JVG is either a) ruining Luther's game by making him run point... b/c the man cannot dribble and watching him run point makes me want to shoot myself.

or because b) JVG making luther run point is bringing out the reality of Luther's game..... which i cannot hate JVG for.
what i mean by this is that Luther is game shooter.. and when he hits, everyone thinks he's good.. but to me, it's just like juwan. his court vision lacks immensely, he takes unnecessary shots, and he starts using shots to gain confidence. he doesn't ever take notice of the shot clock, etc...

I don't care how much lucas sucks, at least he doesn't turn the ball over 1/3 times or let the shot clock expire on offense every 1/5 times (made up numbers as sarcasm). play him at point please... and stop ruining what's left of luther's game. or...trade luther when everyone thinks he's as good as we make him out to be.

I like rafer's game A LOT!.. true he does a lot of dumb things and can't finish around the basket... but he's confident in the offensive set. You don't see him hesitate or throw inefficient passes just to be throwing passes.. he gets things done and takes initiative..

So basically. that's my rant.. although luther is increasingly angering me game after game, what really gets to me is the predictability of Juwan on the offensive end. Everytime he catches the ball, it's like CRAP.. PLEASE DON'T shoot..... then he'll have a game where he makes his shots and everyones like.. OHHHHHHHHH JUWAN IS SO GOOD!!.. PLEASE, pay attention to the big picture and don't allow this man to become our trojan horse.. i hope JVG reads this.

    and i'm done.

Juwan has done a helluva job scoring for us with Yao out.

Yes he is overpaid, but he gives the offense a boost that we need. I am glad he shoots as much as he does, as he is one of the few finishers that we have

You know a post is going to be bad if it starts out with a "I'm sorry to say this, but" or "I don't want to rant, but"..etc etc.

Juwan has been a key player in our nice little run with Yao out....We couldn't have done it without him...When JVG benched him, he never complained...He stayed in great shape and got better as a player so that when his time would come he could help this team, and that's exactly what happened....

I used to hate Jho, but you gotta give the man some credit for his performance this year.

when you are 1 of only 2 veterans on the team
when u are the 3rd option in the game and the 1st option in the post
when u have the best post moves on the team
when u have the mid range jumper that most of ur teammates dont have
when ur FT is way above team average
you are bounded to shoot that many times

(*PS: of course lucas doesnt turn over the ball or let the shot clock expire! he shoots the ball like he is playing 1 on 5)

He's supposed to shoot the ball if he has a legitimate chance of making it. If he didn't we'd have zero threat of a scorer to keep defenses honest. He doesn't jack up shots if he's not on his game.
Also, he doesn't get the ball in the post unless someone else throws it in to him. It's not like he brings the ball up the court and backs it all the way into the post on his own-team game.

So how exactly is he a 'trojan horse'? Pls explain your line of thinking on that one...

He might be boring and one-dimensional on offense but who cares, it's been very effective for us through some tough stretches of the season...

I'm so sick of posters who ignore how much someone has really contributed through some tough slogs, then after a few poor games they are so quick to can them...

I agree that he does many of the things you stated, some of which may hurt us sometimes.

However, he consistently knocks down the open shot. Especially on passes from T-Mac when McGrady gets him fairly open.

That's why he's in the rotation. He's generally very consistent and almost always knocks down open looks. That's how he contributes, and that's what we need from roleplayers when T-Mac and/or Yao are on the floor.

From your ranting post concerning the Juwan Howard predictability, the JVG ruining Luther Head, your mostly liking Alston, the using Lucas more, etc....all of that aside, the most significant phrase from your post that I want to key on is "can't finish around the basket".

That was the single most frustrating feature of last night's game against the Spurs, but everyone including T-Mac was guilty. The one bright spot and exception was Snyder, and yet, he even missed a few. Last night no one could finish anything around the basket! It didn't seem to matter if we were driving, baselining, penetrating, being in the paint, alley-oooping, tipping in, no one could finish anything, all night long around the basket!!!!!! That is where I am ranting and raving!

As long as Juwan is shooting his FTs and Mid jumpers and he is fine for me

JVG putting luther at point is because he is trying to get luther to learn. There is a learning curve there people, dont just expect luther to turn into another Deron in just overnight. It takes years

Um, are you telling me letting Rafer throwing up shots, or waiting for a turnover waiting to happen is better than a consistent jumper?

Your expecting too much from Juwan, he is what he is. A decent 3rd or 4th option player. Considering hes in a role hes forced to play because Yao's been out Id say hes done a more than admirable job. Once Yao gets back offense should definately improve, if Juwan doesnt regress once he doesnt have the ball anymore. All I want is for him to hit that open midrange shot hes been getting.

whatever guys.. it's his mentality.. and you will see it come playoff time when we need everyone to be on the same page.. i hope he learns by then and becomes a smarter player..

but if you don't see this, you aren't paying attention.

i'm not hating to be hating. so please at least watch the tape before you consider me an irrational hater.
