For all those who suffered last week... Tonight's episode was one of the best I've seen in a LONG time. Seriously... from start to finish (minus Justin's THREE musical performances), every sketch was hillarious. The worst sketch was an Arnold one... which was ironically the best sketch last week... that's how much better they did. JT actually did a great job... they actually capitalized on the fact that he had some singing ability (him singing with Will Forte as Kermit the Frog could become a classic). Other Highlights: Amy Poehller doing a DEAD-ON impression of Sharon Osborne (with Horatio doing a perfect Ozzy) SNL making fun of the entire MTV lineup, with spoofs on Punk'd and Nick and Jessica (with JT playing Ashton and Jessica Simpson). Throwing in a reference to Don Zimmer getting flung like a rag doll during the Boston Teens sketch (Sully and Zazu) Needless to say, I came away impressed...
The Arnold piece was awesome. I don't know what you're talking about. Hardball with Rove and Coulter was good, too.
I meant it was bad in a relative way... it was still pretty good, but it wasn't as good as the other sketches tonight (thus, everything was good...) My favorite was actually none of the ones I mentioned... it was the Omeletville sketch. I can't really explain it... you had to watch it. Once again, JT was pretty good... if the rest of the cast put as much effort as he did... one can only dream.
Very good ep, I thought with Timberlake there, it was going to suck, but it definately was one of the best overall eps in the after Ferrell period.
That Punk'd sketch was the funniest bit I've seen on SNL in a while. Maybe it's just because I hate Ashton Kutcher and mock him constantly, but I couldn't help cracking up at it, and I lost it when he jumped off the screen yelling "I love Justin Timberlake!" Oh, and those three musical performances get my vote for the WORST performances in SNL history. I realize they didn't have alot to work with/were trying to be creative....but everything sounded as if it were badly, badly out of tune. Justin actually has a decent singing voice, and that last sketch and the Omeletville one were good examples of combining it with comedy. Catching SNL two weeks in a row? What have I become?
During the Omletteville sketch, did he mess up because he didn't change the lyrics when he sang the Britney Spears song?
I actually fell asleep before it was over but the Punkd sketch had me rollin'. "I'm Ashton Kutcher, and I am awesome!"
this just in...you may not like him...you may not dig his music...but Justin Timberlake is clearly quite talented. the first song he performed reminded me of something D'Angelo wishes he was still recording...i'm certainly not the first to say this, but his album is the album that Michael Jackson wishes he could have recorded about 5 years back. and by the way...he was very funny...i came away from that episode with a much more favorable opinion about him than I had before.
I saw part of the show; Timberlake is a well-rounded talent. He's as good an actor as Harold Baines from ESPN.
I missed it, but I'm surprised people here liked it so much considering all the SNL haters around here. I'm telling you, as long as Lorne Michaels is around, the show will be funny. It will have it's ups and downs, but it'll always come back.
Man, SNL sucks really bad now!!! It hasn't been funny since the Adam Sandler, Chris Farley, Dana Carvey, Norm McDonald, and all those guys left. The show is rather pathetic, I think it should be cancelled, the do the same political jokes every week and the same non-funny skits.
I don't watch it often, but I caught the show Saturday and thought it was damn funny. That Kermit sketch had me rollin'. And JT was not bad at all. His second song reminded me of something Stevie Wonder would do.
