I was forced to endure a predictable romantic comedy by the name of ‘He’s just not that into you’ and these are the things I’ve learned, or rather re-learned: 1. romantic comedies are not funny 2. Scarlett Johansson is hot 3. Drew Barrymore is not 4. apparently these movies are interactive. I could hear the small group of large women in the back of the theater louder than the movie itself. 5. The normal (Man screws up, woman gets fed up with men, man comes crawling back and they live happily ever after) story still gets some women emotional. I'm not sure if there was a thread discussing this movie already but it was not good...at all.
No, he's not. Drew Barrymore is a hag. Most unattractive celebrity ever except for maybe Renee Zellweger. That picture does nothing to change my mind. If anything, it reinforces what I already know.
Was When Harry Met Sally a chick flick? Because if it was, it breaks Rule #1 in the OP. Also, it's just a great movie.
Chick flix don't have to be horrible, there are some really great ones out there but there are plenty that are just horrid.
I was dragged along to this piece of crap last night. i really didnt think it was that horrible until the god awful ending scenes. such predictable tripe, i wanted to kill myself. PS- scarlett would never give E from entouage the time of day. bradley cooper has the same stupid shif eating grin on hia face the whole movie. justin long is a douche. and they turn jennifer connelly into a psychotic b****.
Someone feels my pain! On the ending scenes, in the theater, people were crying and some started to clap. I thought it would have been hilarious if this garbage got a standing ovation so i started clapping myself to urge everyone on. Really, only the large women in the back kept it going but my gf yanked my arm and said I was being an ass.
I didn't think the movie was THAT bad...apparently I've sat through more chick flicks than you gentlemen. However, you take out Scarlett Johansson's office stripdown, it's tough finding things to like. Holy hell, I can't believe she's a real person, she's so disgustingly hot.
Well, you kinda were being an ass, particularly if your girlfriend liked the movie. Really, think of how many movies in the past were male-dominated and women were basically just objectified- the Clint Eastwood westerns, Goodfellas, countless others (great movies, all of them, though). If you can just think for a second and imagine yourself outside of your male-box, you'd realize that the female-based stuff has been largely absent from movies, and if a few movies come along that are focused on the female perspective, well, ain't nothing wrong with that. Don't get me wrong- the Good the Bad and the Ugly is one of my all-time favorites, but the misogyny in the movie is fairly obvious. Not that you're like this, but I know a few friends/acquaintances from the past that would rail against a show like Sex and the City because "all they do is put down men..." Sure, for anyone who watches 1-2 scenes. What they didn't realize is that (1) the women make as many dumb mistakes as the guys do, rendering them equal, and (2) at the end, they all hook up with guys who happen to be decent, respectful, and overall good. So I don't doubt you didn't find the movie funny- I watched The Women with my wife and it was so-so- but not all chick flicks are in that category.
