My 15 yr old son, who has played organized baseball for 12 years, thru little league, PONY league, select teams, all star teams, tournament teams, and his high school freshman team...just hit his first ever home run. A 340 ft shot to left center. About damn time!
Sort of.... After the game, the coaches (I am one) was talking about the game, and I talked about all the good things that happened, except his hit.
Awesome. I still remember my first moon shot in pitching machine leagues. If there were girls there, if I wasn't 10 and if I even knew what sex was at that time I might have gotten laid that night. Instead I had nachos.
Did he flip his bat after hitting the homer? I think its the cool things for kids to do these day in baseball.
i want to have that feeling of hitting a homerun. what does that feel like? i want to know what it feels like hitting a ball 330 plus feet. unless its a homerun at the polo grounds where i can hit it under 300.
Congrats! I'm still waiting on my son. He's 15 now and plays for the HS. His biggest hit this year was around 350 but unfortunately it was dead center on a 365 field and was caught by the centerfielder. He's hit some foul ball HRs but we are still waiting on the official 4 bagger. The pressures off now so he can start racking them up. Plus he's only going to get bigger and stronger. Keep his bats fresh and again - Congrats!
He's 6 ft, 160 lbs. now. If he gets any bigger, I'm gonna start buying his meals in 50# bags at the feed store. Have you seen the price of bats lately? It's getting harder and harder to justify a new bat every year. EDIT: Here's a good site for bats. The 2007 models are on sale right now. http://www.batsbatsbats.com/AdultBaseballBats.html
Oh yea - my son goes through 2 bats a year since they play/practice all year around. Plus you buy a nice bat, you know the other kids will being using it. Thanks for the site - I've been buying new ones off ebay but those prices on that site are as good as some of the deals that I've paid in the past with a no-auction hassle.
