Don't have real gm so its probably impossible but just thinking out-loud >> Denver sends Nick van Exel T Abdul Wahad R LaFrentz(they know they are not going to be able to re sign him) to Rockets for Moochie Norris Cuttino Mobley Kelvin Cato to make salaries line up add/sub Kenny Thomas/Walt Williams or whoever just trying to figure something out. Even though Steve would be short at the 2 I think he might be better suited there.
I don't know. I'm going sightseeing in France this spring. I can't afford to be blinded by the sight of Van Exel.
How about this trade: Mooch goes to GS. M. Jax goes to Denver. Raef comes to Houston. We get rid of Mooch for some solid frontcourt help which we need badly and Mooch gets a fresh start to go with his fresh contract. GS gets what they need badly right now and also finally move MJ from the bench and onto a possible starting job. Denver gets something in return for Raef, a good young player locked into a long affordable contract and Issel gets a fresh start to get along with his new center.
I say the Rockets ripoff Denver in a trade somehow, sending maybe Williams and Tierre Brown to the Nugz and then we have a small lineup of VanExel (1), Francis (2), Mobley (3), Thomas (4) and Taylor (5). I really don't like VanExel, but he would fit our team perfectly. I know we might have to worry about a few mismatches, but we can create many. We all know how successful we have been with a 3 guard lineup. Just a thought.
When McDyess gets healthy and IF he's 100%, I say we send Brown/ and KT or Cato(up to Denver) for McDyess and Van Exel.
1) The Nuggets aren't sitting around asking themselves how they can possibly help the Houston Rockets get better... 2) Van Excel and Stevie would be an incredibly bad combination...think about it... a) Who would guard the other 2 guards? Who would play those guys in the 6-5 to 6-8 range? That's asking a lot of Stevie, and would leave us very vulnerable... b) IF we ever consider moving Francis to the 2 guard, the point, as I understand it, would be to facilitate his ability to score at will, a la Iverson, right? How would adding a mad gunner at the point help that? Look at the kind of guys Iverson has excelled with, not a chucker amongst the lot, and for a reason. c) While I agree he's clutch, and when he's on he gets about as hot as anyone, NVE has never been a player I'd want on my team. He's way too erratic, and the wild shots he makes when he's hot are just prayers when he's not, and that kind of guy running your offense is a bad formula... d) Besides, all this NVE stuff has two additional problems...One, NVE wants out of Denver because he wants to go to a winner, something we are not even close to right now, and Two, even if it were possible, it would be a panic move on our part, and they rarely work out... Now, if Raef Lafrentz were really available, THAT would be another story...
kidrock8, alot of teams think highly of Mooch's game, including Denver ( who he lit up in several games last year) but, we're not trading Mooch to Denver. He's going to GS in exchange for MJ who would go to Denver. Thats not a bad trade at all especially knowing that Raef won't be coming back. The Nuggz would at least get something for him. And thats an eager player thats highly motivated to prove he deserved the contract he got. The guy has been just waiting to get some PT. If anything, we are taking a big risk by doing the trade, taking on a player in the last year of his contract. He could go anywhere next season. The pro to that arguement would be getting out of Mooch's contract. Our 5 spot would be: Raef, Cato, Collier......not too shabby. P.S. RealGM approved the trade. We could also just wait until next off season and trade Mooch to GS for MJ. Then try to sign Raef through FA. Then our 5 spot look like this: Raef, Cato, with MJ and Collier filling in at the 4/5. This would really give us some depth in the frontcourt with players having nba experience (besides Eddie) which Rudy tends to favor. Sorry k-9, but you're gone. We could go after a point in the draft and save $$$.

Other than the fact that M.Jax cant be traded till January 19th, this seems reasonable to me. Iguess Nuggets4 and NugzFan would be more objective. Granted, Jackson hasnt played this year like he did last, but that is kinda hard when sitting on the bench. Nuggets replace size with size (and someone who will just be excited to play)...GS replaces a bench player with a serviceable PG, and the Rockets replace a overdribbling PG (who might be serviceable to someone else ) fora center who can actually play. Also, this team needs a GOOD power forward and a GOOD center. Unless the Rockets think Francis might leave for some reason, any trades entertaining the idea of adding on another guard (unless we can rob someone blind) really hsouldnt even be discussed.
its not the nve-mobley parts that bothers me. its just you somehow think thats not enough and want more...wahad, raef while dumping cato and norris. just plain ignorance.
Nuggets Fan>>> It was an idea I had, just throwing it out there for the talk-I actually think its not to ubsurd of an idea-even though it leans towards the rockets, understand im a rockets fan. The Nuggets brass are idiots and if you think that NVE is really that good for this trade to be IGNORANT then your stupid. LaFrentz is gone after this season Wahad is your trash and we give you our trash and our trash is a big man so you actually win on that one. Cuttino Mobley is not a salary dump-he signed for a hometown discount..not like NVE 88mil, like that wouldnt be a salary dump for you.. I cant wait for LaFrentz to leave via Free agency-NVE gives up on his team and his trade value plumets threw the ground and Wahad is a terrible terrible player with no upside(at least Kelvin Cato is tall)
