He said he knows for sure Mo wants to play here: "Mo Taylor does want to play in Houston and if it can be worked out, he wants to play here." Not sure what "if it can be worked out" means but I'm guessing that's if a sign and trade can be made because we all know a one-year $2.25 million deal is pretty cut and dried. ------------------ NOTHING BUT .NET CLUTCHCITY.NET [This message has been edited by Clutch (edited August 17, 2000).]
Anyone got any Rolaids??? ------------------ In the end there will be no judges...only witnesses to my greatness.
Now Washington and MJ seem to be in the hunt. Although they have no cap space next year, they do have an exception to dangle. http://www.washtimes.com/sports/default-20008170258.htm ------------------ In the end there will be no judges...only witnesses to my greatness. Oh Boy, wasn't Falk MJ's agent at one time? If so, I would give the edge to the Wizards. ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
How much does Mo want to play in other places? I'd date Elizabeth Hurley, but I'd settle for Ashley Judd too (provided I weren't married, of course). If only Maurice would figure out that he should fire Falk. And 'stay out o' the bushes'. ------------------ I've posted so much that what I say must be true. The latest on Maurice Taylor
I feel bad for Mo in the sense that he has backed himself into a corner, but I'm glad he wants to be a Rocket, and I'm glad that he may sign here. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
I´m glad Mo wants to play here, but MJ´s interst does not bode well for us. He still has ties to Falk, and if our only hope of getting Mo is through a sign and trade with the Clips, the odds don´t seem to be on our favor as the clips don´t wan to add contracts. If the choice is between 2.25 mil exceptions the Wizards could have the upper hand. Mo should fire Falk and his MAX promises as others did if he has any brains. ------------------ "Behold the coming of the Almighty" [This message has been edited by Thanos (edited August 17, 2000).]
Hey Clutch, Did Doc Rocket tell you anything about what it is that can be worked out to get him here? We are not hearing anything about what Rockets are offering to Clippers in a sign and trade. Ruben Patterson was at least rumored to be offered to Clippers by Seattle. I guess we all know we can use the trade exception to get Mo but then why is it taking so long to get something done? We could offer a conditional draft pick and the exception and sign him...This is exactly what the Clippers want...cash or draft picks! ------------------ Having a Rockets jersey, $40.00 Having a Rockets t-shirt, $15.00 Having CLUTCHCITY.NET, PRICELESS!
The reason why this is taking so long is that Falk is searching for anything plausible to appease Taylor. No doubt, Taylor is probably very upset at the fact that he is now an "exception" player, wheras 6 months ago, he could have gotten close to the MAX (not that teams were offering anything, he was just percieved much better). The Jordan inquiry neither worries me nor suprises me. Jordan has always had the upper hand with Falk (one of few who does), and he sees MO as somebody cheap who could make his team better, and then he can dump his salary next year. This whole thing will be over when either Taylor grabs Falk and demands vehemently to be sent to Houston, or Jordan grabs Falk and demands vehemntly for Taylor to be sent his way. Either way, Taylor's been screwed over big time...and I say if we do get him, we convince him to dump Falk, and we'll have good-faith negotiations next summer (btw, have the Rockets ever had serious dealing with a Falk client?...this could be the first one) ------------------ --Nick
I'm not so worried about the Whiskers. He wont be playing WITH Jordan. Just for him. And it's not like free agents are crawling all over each other to play there.
Taylor was NEVER perceived as a MAX salary player. Falk simply tried to manipulate us all into believing he was. Then again I never thought Brian Grant should be a MAX player and look what's happening in Miami. Go figure! ------------------ Don't you have anything better to do?
The Wizzards starting lineup for next year: White Howard Hamilton Richmond Strickland So the only open space for Mo is the 3spot. But this is getting out of hand now. You have three teams that want you the Wizzards,Sonics,Rockets so make up your damn mind and sign with someone. This kind of stuff shouldn't take 2weeks.
Lil 3, Falk is well known for this crap. Telling his clients "There are greener yards just over the next hill" ------------------ In order to be a success in life, you need 2 things: 1. Don't tell everything you know.
Regardless Faulk is close to MJ, still the Wizards does not have the cap for next year. Rockets will still be the best option. ------------------ Rudy T. will find and fulfill Rockets destiny.
The ....... Ooops!! Dang!!! .... stumbling blocks: 1. The Clips have no real incentive to sign and trade Mo. As a matter of fact they have every reason NOT to do so. Add to that the fact that they are perfectly happy with the roster as it sits now. Having the trade go through them would be beneficial to everyone except the Clips, unless the Rockets, who have a very nice working relationship with LAC, can convince them otherwise. So, I would not put too much blame on Falk at this point of the negotiations. 2. Sources tell me that CD and Co want a sign and trade if possible, contrary to what everyone else is saying (writting, broadcasting, etc.... ). Using the $2.5M exemption may have been one of the carrots initially dangled out there, but it is a slip-back position only now. The sign and trade route for a three year deal is their preference. Offers have been made. 3. A long term signing would have to involve at least one player to make use of the $4.5M. That appears to put our focus on Bryce Drew. Is Drew enticing enough to the Clips for them to move to a sign and trade stance? Likely not. But what if it involved two other players? CD and Rt do not have any questions about a deal involving MO. Why? Simply put ..... 1. There isn't a very big downside here, folks. At least not one that every other player in the league doesn't already lay claim to .... the risk of a fizzle out! Basically we get a 23 y/o offensive-talented player/scorer who has underacheived in the defensive end (while playing for a non-defensive minded team) in a three year Rox contract, who would help us use the $4.5M trade exception, fill a big hole with scoring talent (soime say explosive, under the right circumstances). Or, we get the same Power Forward in a one year contract so we can save money to go shopping for a ....... wait for it ........ another more expensive PF free agent next year. 2. Granted MoTay may not be the PF we had in mind at the end of this past season and he may NOT even be the PF of the future for us. But, this proven PF talent is available, eager to play for us, and more importantly is just as likely ........ should I dare say it .......... just as damn likely to be the future PF in Rocketland as any other prospects out there (this year or next).
Well said oeilpere (if that is indeed your real name ). Waiting around for next year, when there is exactly -1- great PF on the market, is ludicrous. Especially when there is, as they say, a bird in the hand. I have my doubts about Mo - can he rebound? can he defend? but for a team in desperate need of help in the paint, we've got to grab the brass ring when it comes around. I would say more but I've run out of cliches. ------------------ [This message has been edited by SamCassell (edited August 17, 2000).]
It really looks like we will land Mo considering the trade that went down with kemp to portland and grant to miami and load of other players to cleveland. Rosters are just sureing up all over the NBA and it doesn't look like there are many teams that have the interest that houston has, esp. if Mo does indeed want to come to houston. It might just be working out the numbers game at this point. I do like the idea of a 3yr deal. we'll just have to keep bitting our nails. ------------------
It is not the same without you Oil. Thanks for the info. If I was Mo I would probably want to be in Houston. This organization takes care of loyal players. If he does not sign with us then that probably tells us something about him. If he does not sign with us then he must not believe in himself. Look at Shandon for instance, he took less to play here. He wanted to be here because he new he would have an opportunity to start.(if he had the skills to) He knew deep down inside that he could play(therefore get big money after his contract is over.) The Rocket's will do what they promise. If Mo believes in himself then the reasonable and best choice would be the Rockets. If he decides to come to Houston, expect a huge year for the Rocket's and Mo. Let's see if he believe's in himself. ------------------ Fuggetabout it
