It's possible that some resignings you've done might not have stuck in the game - this happened to SF3 recently. So when I update again after the WS is over (it's not, at the moment), I suggest you all examine your team pages to make sure the guys you've resigned are actually resigned. I will, as per usual, give it a day or two after the WS has finished for final resignings.
Yanks win the first three games of the Series, then phend off the Fils to win in 7. Due to an amazingly avid desire to start the new season, unprecedented in its level of intensity, I'm doing that tonight. This raises some interesting questions with regards to resignings, so here's what I'm doing. Players who I think a given manager might have wanted to resign will be resigned by me at the lowest contract I can get them to take. If it turns out you don't want the player, then I can just edit his contract to nothing and release him before free agency at no cost to you. Players affected by this measure are: Ramon Santiago, Chicago (A): 2.5M/3 years Eric Gagne, Los Angeles: 860K/3 years Luke Allen, Los Angeles: 1.75M/3 years Rick Ankiel, Los Angeles: 950K/3 years Joe Valentine, New York (N): 800K/3 years Bubba Nelson, Florida: 3.5M/3 years I also tried signing Chin-Feng Chen, but his demands were upwards of 4 million. So, if you want any of these extensions erased, don't hesitate to let me know... as it stands, you should be able shortly to see rookies and ratings on the league page.
Also, there have been some not-so-veiled rumblings of discontent about the talent-only ratings system we use during the regular season. It'd be cool if you could all vote on whether you'd prefer ratings or talent so that I could upload the player profiles later with the proper data in them.
Down with the hidden stuff!!! Join the crusade - eliminate hidden ratings! At a minimum player profiles should show ratings, if you want them hidden during the season it is kinda ok (although it is not), but taking them out of the profiles serves no purpose as the ratings have to be shown during FA. If ratings never were shown I could see the thing about keeping them hidden, but as OOTP4 do not have an ok way to do offseason stuff without ratings they could just as well be shown all the time. That is my opinion. and it is also a changed opinion (see it is possible) as I originally voted to remove the ratings when we had this vote previous.
Having the numerical ratings would be fine with me. It sucks thinking that you are getting a good pitcher because he is a "good" in hits when he really has a 5 in avoiding hits (numerical rating). But I'll go with what everyone else wants.
Ah, Manny - thats being stupid Good = 6-8 Average = 4-6 The 5 rated good pitcher will develop to at least 6, you should not let that bother you at all.
I vote to keep the ratings hidden. It's much more interesting that way. With the ratings shown, its nice, but just not that interesting.
I vote to keep them hidden. There would be nothing to trading and evaluating talent if we could see the ratings.....
I vote for ratings to be shown. A) We see every player at the end of the year, so it's not like we won't find them out anyway. B) It's good for player development, you can judge a player's improvement over the season, especially those in the minors.
Keep them hidden until the end of the season. It's like a Christmas present for those of us who don't get to the playoffs
In the grand scheme of things, I don't think it matters either way, but I'll go with hidden just because of the mystique factor...
Ok, I think that's pretty much a majority in favor of hidden ratings. Now if I could inconvenience you all to have another go, Heath, in a desperate attempt to get some sort of ratings on the page, has proposed that ratings be included in profiles but not ratings reports. This would: *eliminate the need to save pre-season ratings reports, as some GMs do *allow GMs to see lefty/righty splits *not necessarily show the current ratings of a player as profiles won't be updated to show the developments and progress of a current player Most GMs probably do not go around saving every team's ratings report at the beginning of the season; profiles would allow everyone to see the ratings of every player on every team. Vote away, fellas.
Hidden ratings are garbage. They make the game so much more interesting, hidden ratings make the game go sour after awhile. Certain players in real life are said to have "25-30hr potential", "30-35hr potential", etc. It's just like the rating system in this game. You can tell me that the scouts are wrong a lot of times, but that doesn't matter. The game is the same way, ratings don't always show the true picture. But whatever. It doesn't have this shroud of mystery like some people like to put it. It's kinda easy to predict what a player has, but its a pain in the ass that isn't needed.
