They are trying to trade Best, supposedly...

Squatting on old bones and excrement and rusty iron, in a white blaze of heat, a panorama of naked idiots stretches to the horizon. Complete silence-their speech centers are destroyed-except for the crackle of sparks and the popping of singed flesh as they apply electrodes up and down the spine. White smoke of burning flesh hangs in the motionless air. A group of children have tied an idiot to a post with barbed wire and built a fire between his legs and stand watching with bestial curiosity as the flames lick his thighs. His flesh jerks in the fire with insect agony.

That would make sense. They could get a good frontcourt player for Best.

Rod Strickland will ruin that team . . .

He is a bad influence, and basically KILLS chemistry. For all the Blazers' other problems, I say that Rod Strickland is what pushed them downhill. Until they signed him, Portland was doing well. But it seemed that the MINUTE they signed him, instantly the team went to hell. Stoudamire was having a great season, and Greg Anthony was a solid backup. Then they go and bring in Rod Strickland, and the team falls from grace.

IMO, the signing of Rod was THE season-killer for the Trailblazers. It served as the "last straw" that exposed other problems for the team.

March 6th was his first game in Portland. It was a loss. Up until that point, the team was 42-18 . . . a DAMN fine record . . .

From that point onward, the team ended 50-32, going 8-14 the rest of the way.

That means, before Rod Strickland, the team was winning 70% of its games. After Strickland's acquisition, the team won 36% of its games.

Rod Strickland is the reason for the Blazers' downfall last season. And he will drag the Pacers down with him.

Rose can and has played the point. He is moderately effective at that position but is definitely better playing SG/SF.

It was a coincidence that Portland really sucked it up when Rod was signed. I think he can play, he is a pure point gaurd, and he is a vet with something to prove. Good signing by the Pacers in my book.

Rod Strickland had NOTHING to do with the demise of the Portland Trailblazers. That ship in the iceberg long before Strick hit the scene. The demise of the Portland Trailblazers started with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter of Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals in 2000.

Don't forget that the Blazers had most of their "eastern conference" games by the time they got to that 42-18 record - Stricklands arrival merely coincided with their long run of games against quality (read mostly Western conference) opposition. That they lost most of those matches shows that they weren't an elite team.

Probably a good signing by the Pacers.

Rose played and started at PG most of last year. That's where they want him to play. He'll play there again this year.

Strickland is a cancer wherever he goes. remember when the rockets entertained thoughts of signing him but opted for Brent Price?
