I bid with about 8 sec left and was high bidder for about 6 secs when someone else swooped in and outbid me by 50 cents. I knew I should of waited a few more seconds to bid. Ah well, you win some you lose some.

I sometimes wait until 30 seconds, I always figured I was safe.

I have NEVER understood why people snipe... why not just bid what is the most you would pay to get it at a good price.... if you win, you win... If you get outbid, well you didnt want to pay more anyway... I think I am just old school and give a real bid when it seems everyone else is only bidding what they think is the best price at that second..

Unfortunately, that is the nature of the beast. I've been outbid plenty of times.

After a while you get a better understanding of the value of the products and what to bid just before close.

    Good luck next time.

Beause I want to give my max bid chance of winning. I was bidding on a pair of gloves and I wasn't going to spend more than $10.50. If I had bid earlier someone would have just up'd the price.

When I placed my bid, the price was at $4.50. If my max bid was not enough, then so be it. But what happened was someone else saw my $10.50 bid and bid $11.01 and won it. If I had waited a few second later, the other bidder might have only bid $9-10 not knowing that $11 was needed to win and I would have won.

Then again, what do I know, I lost.

I just got outbid too :(

People snipe because it's easier to get a better price that way. Since bidding is done at the last minute, there's a limited amount of time for the price to rise. If I don't win once, I'll just wait until another one comes along, there's almost always more of the same items on Ebay.

The last 2 items I was winning were removed due to a listing error or something.

Seems to me the listing error is the seller didn't like the price.

    Sonsabitches.

that is just some trumped up name for something really simple.

bid sniping is the way to go, saves you a lot of money.

based on your other posts, you do not understand how ebay works: the guy who outbid you by 50 cents does not exactly made a bid of 50 cents more than you. Ebay automatically adjust your bid price within your maximum bid, so all you know is that that guy was willing to pay more than what you wanted to pay for this item, what is his max you never know.

why this is a big deal to you?

just make you max bid and live with it.

    www.esnipe.com

Just set it and forget it...

The cool thing is you can set up bid folders on an item. Set the max price you want to pay for multiple items that are the same. Once you win an item, it stops bidding on the other items in the folder. Perfect way to manage bids, take the stress out and get it for a low price.
