I just heard from a reliable person in New York City that my friend in California is pulling major deals. He is such a nice kid though, knew him since freshmen at our high school in NYC. Very intelligient, part of national honors society (arista), full scholorship to his college. His family isn't rich, which was one of main reasons he went to California, nearly no money spent at all. As soon as I heard this information I called my friend in California, and asked him to tell me the truth, and he confirmed it. I asked him why, and he said it gets him respect and girls. The main reason he pointed out to was that so many students at California are rich, with BMWs, Mercedes and what not that he "would be the poorest person in school" if he does not do this. The money fulfills all his materialistic needs, but I am worried about the road he is headed. I would tell his parents, but that would crush them, for he is their only child and the pride of their entire family. But I also worry that just standing by and doing nothing would destroy a talent like him. Being so intelligent, he obviously knows all the risks invovled as well as what can happen, but to him, the reward justifies the risk...what can I do to help him?

I don't see how dealing drugs gets you girls....We college kids are stupid, lol.

Tell your friend that there's no point of going to school if he's dealing drugs. Either he'll stop and get a degree, drop out to sell drugs, or drop out and get killed.

dude, listen to reason here, the best thing you can do for him is to rat his ass out....trust me, if you let it go, he gets killed or thrown in jail for worse causes down the line, gotta save him before its to late, I had the same issues with myself, but military school straightened me out!

    Talking usually doesnt do much,
you need to get him busted, with a small amount of course, just so he'll spend a little time in jail, that is the only way it will get to his head
it is much better than if he continues this and gets busted with a huge amount or a more dangerous drug, ecstacy= one account of manslaughter and he ends up spending 15- life in prison
its tough love and thats the way most kids understand nowadays, thats what you gotta do

oh and this is a serious post, FLAME ON

tell him, see how much respect, girls and money you get when you are dead.

the life he is now leading either kills you, or sends you to jail for a very long time.

Tell him to be careful, and think about what he is doing. The problem is he is looking at being the poorest kid in school as some sort of a shameful thing.

Selling drugs is more shameful than being poor. I knew people in college who didn't have enough money to have any car, and they had plenty of friends. Some of the friends were wealthy, and some weren't.

I knew someone in college who sold drugs, and he did have a lot of girls around. I knew someone else who sold drugs who didn't have a lot of girls hanging out, and then he had to start carrying a weapon, and there was some heat from the law, though he never was arrested, so he got of it.

If your friend is smart enough he will get his priorities straight and cut that crap out. Anyone who doesn't want to be with him because he is poor or doesn't have a fancy car, isn't worth his time anyway.

There are people out there who aren't worried about that stuff.

I don't think you should rat him out.

and get him kicked out of school? i dont think that would help. unless you meant just ratting him out to his parents, that wouldn't be so bad.

And just think of how much money he would have saved if he went to say anywhere else other than California and New York.

Sorry, Xeno but that statement just struck me funny as I think CA is the 2nd most expensive state to live in after NY (it is like 3 times the cost of living compared to TN).

As for your buddy, I agree with the others - you have got to rat him out. It sucks, I know, but I think he will appreciate it as he gets older, especially when he thinks what his life would have been like if he continued to deal drugs.

A really good friend of mine use to deal drugs and use steroids. Now he's a high school principal who is currently working on his PHd (all of that stuff is behind him). It is probably a phase that your friend is going through, and hopefully he won't get too deep into it and ruin the rest of his life. Don't rat him out. Just let him know that he needs to stop.

he got a full scholorship to his school, which was the reason he went. Cali might be expensive, and i guess it is seeing he need to sell now, but if you dont have to pay for college, that saves a chunk of money.

KC say what you want, I know that was going to come up sooner or later. Guess it matters that much to you and try to disprove everything I post. Regardless, it was a mistake but guess what, we learn from them.

I agree, if you're his friend you don't rat him out.

I've known several people who have dealt drugs in the past. It's a glamorous lifestyle because you get to go to all of the best parties, and all of the girls want to be around you. However, it will leave a hollow feeling inside because the only reason people want to be around you is because of what you can give them.

He'll have to learn on his own that this is not for him, but don't rat out your friend.
