I don't believe they prefer either. And I don't believe anyone thinks it's funny to be called a ***. Anyone who does think it's funny to use the word that way is a jerk too. That was my point.

I don't have any hard feelings toward you. I know people still think gay bashing is funny (just like they recently thought black bashing was). I'm hoping you and RKMAN will grow out of it. If you don't, I'm hardly the bigger jerk here.

This thread should have been locked on the first post when RKMAN used *** as a derogatory term. I'm sure it'll be locked soon enough.

I wasn't really, rudager. I just don't think that **** is funny and I don't think being facetious about it is funny. I have a lot of gay friends who have been through too much of that stuff to laugh at it. I brought up the negro thing because I think it's exactly the same. You were probably just making a bad joke but RKMAN should be ashamed of himself.

I assume he was just telling everyone they have bad service at Auto Doctors. There are much better ways to go about it, though. Certain derogatory terms just have no place anywhere.

Well, in defense of RKMAN, "fags" has taken on a connotation totally displaced from homosexuality. Basically, calling someone "gay" or a "***" means they're a jerk or an idiot. Of course you know that already, but are somehow offended by it for whatever reason. The roots of words are forever the same, but the meanings change.

Anyway, plenty of black comics make/made fun of black culture (Chappelle, Chris Rock, Eddie Murphy, et al)--and the same for gays, perhaps more so--and I often find it humorous. It's just words, as I see it. Semantics. Words are overrated. Just an opinion, I'm sure you disagree.

Blacks have taken ownership of hurtful words for themselves. It's not okay with them if you use them if you're not black.

Gays have likewise taken ownership of hurtful words and it's not okay with them if you use them to mean idiot or jerk. What you're doing when you do that is saying that gay people are idiots or jerks.

If you're not black, you'd be well advised not to call a black friend a n****r. If you're not gay, you'd be well advised not to use the word *** unless you mean to bash gays. That's how it will be taken.

We shouldn't even be talking about this in the forum and we wouldn't be if you and RKMAN weren't under the impression that the words that were used to gay bash people for so many years were yours to use in poor comedy. If you don't get it now, I won't convince you. I think you're probably a reasonable guy, so I think you'll realize it later and feel like an ass. Either way's fine by me. I'm done.
