    AHHHH!!!!

It just drives me crazy to see Dallas or any other team improve and watch the Rockets front office just sit on their hands. I know you have to have talent to trade or money available to sign free agents, but SH*T, come on C. Dawson. Maybe the Rockets want to be like the Astros, just good enough to make it to the playoffs but that’s about it.

The cup may be half full, but damn it, the cup just tipped over.....

And how exactly do you know that they aren't trying to make trades? Have you been to his office everyday to see what he is doing? You do realize that they are constantly talking to other GM's, but if all they offer us is crap in return then we aren't going to take it. And if they do have possible trades out there they aren't going to publicize it since there's a good chance it won't go through, so we don't know what they're talking about. If you want them to trade just for the sake of trading then that's just dumb. You don't win a championship your first year back to the playoffs, getting to the playoffs is just one more step in the rebuilding process, there's more work to do but it isn't going to happen in one off season.

People like you, who defend people like CD make me crazy!! We have TONS OF TRADE BAIT: Cato, Cat, MoT, Rice, etc.

To say we can't get something done is absolutely bullsh*t!!!

This team is absolutely running on fear. The desperation in the front office for a winning season out of JVG is palpable. Because Les KNOWS the fans won't endure another off season without the playoffs and a first round exit won't sit too well either!!!

Nope, these guys could have done about three different deals already but have absolutely NO BALLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, believe me, I got your back when you say we should have already made a move!! Anything else is truly bullsh*t!!

Oh, and btw - here are the relevant quotes from Dallas Team officials regarding the trade:

"To get better you have to trade significant pieces to get significant pieces, usually," he said. "In some form or fashion, everyone's name gets thrown into a scenario. That's the way the game is played.

"Of course our preference is to keep the core together. But it's not like that's going to prevent us from making a deal that makes sense."

I reiterate the Rox front office is full of old men with NO BALLS!

This Rockets team is one that is still developing an identity. You don't make huge trades in situations like that. And by the way, MoT, Rice, Cato and Cat are not nearly as tradeable as you seem to think. The Mavs already have their core. They are trying to get over the hump. Teams like the Lakers and Spurs are in the same situation. The Rockets have an idea of what their core will be (Francis and Yao), but they have yet to emerge as a serious, hang-the-fate-of-your-team-on-them CORE. Until that happens, I don't think it does anybody any favors to make big trades. Jameson would not have helped this team. In a way, I almost wanted last season's team to come back, completely intact, so we could get a good idea of what it is that Van Gundy will do different.

What are these three trades that the Rockets could have gotten done that you are talking about, Old You With No Balls?

    PS. Are you native american?

I dont know what you are all grumbling about. The Rockets front office stated that we were going to stand pat, exception being that we were going to pick up some low priced experienced Free Agents when the top dogs have done their thing. In keeping with this statement we have added Piatowski and A. Griffin. Possible with one or two still to go.[I want the Bad Man!]
The reasoning offered is too fold:- Les Alexander the Owner does no want to pay the Luxury Tax [He got $16 mil back this year]. JVG our new Coach wants to have a season of coaching with our current Team that Les & CD believe are under achievers. JVG has stated that after a season of experience with the players he would consider making trades to improve the Team. And that is is the way it is!

This front office that you claim has no balls is the same office that has made deals for Drexler, Barkely and Pippen. Les wants to win, and has shown that he is willing to go that extra mile to do so. Therefore, the Astros this team is not. But maybe some people here believe when he said he wanted to make a big splash even if it means going over the luxury tax threshold that it meant he was willing to spend as much money as it takes to sign a top tier FA. Well first off, among the top tier FA like Kidd, Payton, Malone, etc, none of them expressed any interest in coming to the Rockets, because most likely they wanted to sign with a contender, which the Rockets aren't at this pt. Second, signing any big name FA all-star caliber player isn't what this team needs right now. If the Barkley and Pippen aqcuisitions proved anything, it was that two's company, but three's a crowd; that its hard to win championships with three/four superstar players on your team clamoring for a piece of the ball. And finally, Les may be the one who signs the paychecks and authorizes the deals, but he is not the one who determines the needs of the team. That falls on JVG and associates, CD, etc. And what the signings of Pike and Griffen show is JVG wanted to build up the bench to surround our core players (Mobley, Yao, Steve) w/ a little more power and strength. And as already has been said, once this core finds its identity, and the team reaches the next level (i.e. the playoffs), then they can start thinking about signing another impact player. And by that time, we'll have the money to play w/ too.

So, in short, it's called patience people.

I agree, this team is not even close to being championship level yet. So with the luxury tax, it doesn't make sense to spend the extra money if any trade the Rockets make will keep them at their status quo, a fringe playoff team. The Rockets are still a work in progress, and hopefully JVG will bring the right ingredients to make the team's core to gel. I trust that when the team is finally competitive, Les will be willing to spend the extra buck for the title. Until then, it'd be stupid to dig themselves in deeper financial hell with worse contracts.

We could trade just to be trading and trade away the good players that we do have for a bunch of garbage like golde state did.

Some of you sound like spoiled little children crying because we can't make a blockbuster deal every single offseason. Every time another team makes a move, a new thread gets started on why that move spells doom for the Rockets. Why does every single move made by every single team mean we're one step closer to 0-82?

We've got a new coach which means we have a new offensive and defensive game plan. We've got 2 all star players, both of which have their best years ahead of them. We haven't even started training camp yet and some of you are already writing off the entire season.

The sky is not falling!!

wait 3-4 years, lakers mavs, spurs, wolves, kings are all trying to make a run to win, we dont need to make a big move just to get a 6,7,8 seed in the playoffs

How do you know that they are not considering a trade involving either Cato or Rice? The thing is we need someone valuable in return, and we don't want to exchange Rice's contract for another rich but longer contract. I would rather not trade Rice than make a mistake that we will regret later.

Cat is worth more than his contract. We can use him and at least give JVG a chance to work on Cat.

MoT is not tradable, given his performance last year. Nobody will take him before he proves he is worth that contract. MoT is not a trade bait.

Don't always complain about CD or Les not doing much. Think about that they can do. The truth is there is not much. It is like those Californians complaining about G. Davis and deciding to recall him. I think it is plain stupid! Who can fix the problems there? Terminator? givme a break.

There is a lot more risk in making a trade than standing pat 9 times out of 10.

Giving up a known servicable player that knows the system
Receiving an unknown personality into a new system
    Hidden problems with the player

    (Remember Pippen?)

If you make a trade, there are more things that can go wrong than right. If you get lucky, the payoff can be big (Drexler) but it is a big risk.

9 outta 10 times, you're better off standing pat.

So if you make a move, you better be damn sure it makes sense from every conceivable angle.

Rox know this. If they didn't make a move, it's because the risk outweights the benefits.

If they did it, then you'd complain that the JVG didn't do his job because we're in the lottery 5 straight years.

Dam ppl if yall were GM's yall would truly dissapoint.. It seems yall would do stupid stuff just to start contending... I mean its not worth trading ppl away.. sure it i would love to trade some stupid contracts but hey what if get stupid crap back in return... Lets not turn into the warriors front office either yall know... how do we know that this years squad is not going to make it to the playoffs...YALL ALREADY SAY THEY SUCK yet yall havent seen them a play a single game... How do we know that this years squad is going to suck more from last years... Yall write to many stupidities without analysing... This team needs no more superstars... All we need is role players... Maybe signing 2 veterans would be good but thats it... It would be nice to lock all the threads about the rockets this and that... The rockets are already a good team and this year they are going to the playoffs...

I understand that people are frustrated about that, but look at it this way...

People are so busy saying they want to make big moves like teams like Dallas are making, but let's look at the moves Dallas DIDN'T make in the past:

Dallas was a lot worse off than we are now a few years back. They were a guaranteed lottery team for almost a decade (if not longer), but did they trade away all their players? No! The team wasn't winning, but they had faith in developing players like Nowitzki, Finley, Nash and others who hadn't made a name for themselves. Now, as a result of being P-A-T-I-E-N-T, Dallas is one of the top 3 teams in the league. You people need to just give the players we have now a chance to improve. It will take time, i can tell you that, but it will be worth it in the end. You guys are the ones saying "The team has bad chemistry", but then you want to trade our players away and start over? That's not the way to go. Chemistry and patience are two of the key parts to building a championship team.
