Well....BAGWELL WAS SAFE. That 2nd basemen did NOT touch the base. MAN.. They shouldn't have taken Morris out. He was awesome. Ausmus is a hero!!! Good game. They really need instant replay in baseball. It's already super slow. This game was fast though.
Ausmus comes through ...2-1 Stros (Hidalgo thrown out at the plate though) Wagner on ...bottom of the 9th
Let's go billy... don't make this more exciting than it's already been. Is Edmonds injured or can they use him as a pinch hitter? (although lefty on lefty may not work out) That guy kills us! Keep him in the dugout!
Please, PLEASE be right!!?!?!??!! (except for that soul crushing defeat in the playoffs thing... that sucked)
We've already got 2 games in this series, our WORST offensive player is MASHING right now, we've got some mojo going our way, and we're starting to BELIEVE!!! Great start to the season. Please, try to sustain this on ANY level.
WOW what a finish. You just KNEW they were going to pull it out going into the 9th. 4 wins, 3 come from behind. Roy "CY" Oswalt tmmrw !!!
Looks like Hidalgo is coming back into form too. One can only hope. I have to admit I was a bit down on the team after last season, and still wish they had done more in the offseason, but things look encouraging so far.
Awesome win for the team. Never too early to start taking games against the Cards... btw, anyone else find it amusing that eric.81's sig is longer than the rest of this entire thread? Maybe you can shorten that thing down a little bit, save some server space eh bud?
Don't worry about the Braves. Last year they started off slow and won 103 games. I don't think they will win that many this year but they will win that division going away. The Astros worry me because their #3 and#4 starters are only good for batting practice.
Don't give up on Robertson so fast, he HAS to be better than his first outing. Redding is our real 3rd starter, he has the "stuff" to dominate, he just has to find a way to put it all together.
The best part about this win, is that we punked the Redbirds with our #5 pitcher, when they had their #1 pitcher on the hill. They probably chalked this up as a "W".
I LOVE THIS TEAM. So far, Jimy Williams has flat outcoached Tony LaRussa this series. I'm lovin' it. In regards to Ausmus, I just remembered something today. Towards the end of last season (maybe as much as 2/3rds into it) Ausmus's offensive production was way down (even for him). So just for grins he tried a bigger, heavier bat. His power numbers immediately went up and he start making much better contact with the ball as well. He finished the season quite well, and now he has started this season quite well. Perhaps it is just my wild imagination coupled with wishful thinking, but maybe Brad Ausmus can sustain some good offensive production this season. SWEET game. On a side note, blast from the past Paul Bako had 6 RBI today for the Cubs!
