Technically, you're not supposed to impede the progress of faster traffic by driving in the far left lane-- you've surely noticed the "Slower Traffic Keep Right" signs alongside the road. It's rude. There's no need for it.

Sorry I'm not in Texas; we don't have those signs here. My understanding is that it is courteous to leave a more-leftward lane open for cars to pass you on but not legally sanctioned as such. How about those DRIVE FRIENDLY signs? STOP, I get. Afterall, I guess that is what most roadrage is about: lack of courtesy. Actually, I've only seen those signs outside of town myself. I'm usually a speed-demon, but if you're going to complain, I think I'll be sure to do 50 in the left lane for the next couple of weeks. Did anyone else see that study that claims cell phone use is just as likely to lead to a wreck as drunken driving? I've heard of that and cited it before on this board to defend drunk drivers.
