Technically, there's no such thing as a passing lane. Will that change your reaction?!

"Slower traffic keep right, left lane for passing only."

That sounds liek a passing lane to me...have you ever seen one of these signs?

Yes, in Texas, there is a passing lane. Disobeying that sign is the same as disobeying the speed limit sign.

Technically, you're not supposed to impede the progress of faster traffic by driving in the far left lane-- you've surely noticed the "Slower Traffic Keep Right" signs alongside the road.

It's rude. There's no need for it.

One thing that irks me is when people see a cop on the highway and everybody slows down to 45.

Especially when the cop is out of the car giving someone else a ticket.

Exactly!!! That's the perfect opportunity to speed past and taunt the offender for getting caught.

Sorry I'm not in Texas; we don't have those signs here. My understanding is that it is courteous to leave a more-leftward lane open for cars to pass you on but not legally sanctioned as such. How about those DRIVE FRIENDLY signs? STOP, I get.

Afterall, I guess that is what most roadrage is about: lack of courtesy. Does this mean we apply a new meaning to those DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS signs?

Actually, I've only seen those signs outside of town myself. I'm usually a speed-demon, but if you're going to complain, I think I'll be sure to do 50 in the left lane for the next couple of weeks. As for roadrage: it's not about a lack of courtesy, it's about people getting mad about a lack of courtesy. Get over it.

I think I should win this award. Just remember, if Juan Valdez wins, I will have to become even more annoying! [IMG]

Man... and I appreciate both of their posts [IMG].

Did anyone else see that study that claims cell phone use is just as likely to lead to a wreck as drunken driving? Was that for real, or just hyperbole?

I've heard of that and cited it before on this board to defend drunk drivers. If it's not already, it will soon be illegal in Texas to drive while talking on a cell phone. I think it's a good thing.

You people don't even have traffic. When I was there, they said "that's rush hour traffic". I could walk across the (200 foot wide) street blindfolded without getting hit. If you guys have to go fast, you can. lol!
