Not saying I'm looking forward to this season being over, but its going to take a couple of good winning streaks to get to the playoffs. Say we do wind up in lotto land and end up with the pick, since the best player in the nation plays point and we don't need him, the centers availiable are projects and small forwards are probably the hardest players to evaluate in the draft, what would we do with the pick. I'm not trying to bring up a lot of what ifs and trade accepted's from real gm, but if we could offer Cato, Taylor and the number 1 for Duncan, would SA pull the trigger? I know he's signed for 1 more yr after this one, but if they don't win it this yr, the chance of having the number one pick doesn't come along to often. Would that be too big of a risk for us or is it a risk worth taking knowing he might be here 1 yr? Just a thought.

Only problem is I doubt we'll get the #1 pick. RT won't tank this team and we'll prob end up w/ 25-30 wins.

Threads discussing trades for Duncan are moronic.

Either he goes into free agency, or he allows SA to do a s-n-t for a major, major already-picked lottery player and/or a veteran stud.

Cato, Tayler with major achilles surgery, and a yet undetermined #1 for Duncan.

    "Just a Thought," you ask?

    You should be embarrassed leebeegeebee.

Thank God there are no Spurs fans around. The laughing would be overwhelming.

reason #482 why trade ideas should be banned from this board.

I didn't say we'll tank , neither did I say it would happen, it was just one of those brainstorming ideas. Thats pretty much true about him, but if we do wind up with the number 1 pick, is it a player that can come in and be a instant impact at one of our need positions? Even if we don't get the top, what about a top 10 pick for a semi established player? Tanking games are not even a issue, we might not be as good healthy as people think. I just don't think adding another college player who will probably ride the bench will help this team soon enough. Just brainstorming is all and probably too much free time.

Let's see, if I'm SA, do I take a deal of Cato/Taylor/future #1 pick or Toronto's late round #1 pick.......

......or do I accept one of the other offers that would most definitely be made (once word got out that he was available) like this one for instance.......

Washington trades: Tyrone Nesby $3,260,000 to San Antonio
Washington trades: Etan Thomas $1,493,046 to San Antonio
Washington trades: Kwame Brown $3,697,440 to San Antonio
Washington trades: Courtney Alexander $1,418,355 to San Antonio
    TOTAL: $9,868,841

San Antonio trades: Tim Duncan $10,865,250 to Washington
    TOTAL: $10,865,250

    TRADE ACCEPTED

........or do I keep him, because we're the the #2 seed in the Western Conference & have the second best record in the NBA?

I know I'm going to get another migraine thinking about this. But d*mn, Cato/Taylor/#1 pick for Duncan, who could pass that deal up?

If we were serious about trading for Duncan. We should throw in Francis if they throw in Tony Paker that would be more plausable.. I would much rather have Duncan than Francis...Think about Duncan and Griffin next year.. that would be a blocking, rebounding, inside scoring, machine of a team...

Not a number 1 pick, the number 1 overrall pick. I said after the yr anyway and by Davids rapid decline, they won't be that good next yr. It will pretty much just be him again. Blast me for the post, i really don't care, it was just a thought. I just don't see anyone we could take with the number overrall pick. Who knows, we might go on this unbelievable streak and make the playoffs.

Francis - Duncan is more like it. I don't think I do that. But we should TANK starting now, (Chicago is pulling away!) and trade the pick (bad draft). Forget Yao Ming. Not gonna happen. Where do you think we will pick, anyway? Who's the competition for bottom of the heap?

Maybe, if you'd lower your sights a little, your thought wouldn't be sarcastically dismissed. A player like Duncan wouldn't be available until the year when his contract ends or he makes it publicily clear that he has no intention of staying.

The Rockets don't need a superstar center (not, that it wouldn't be nice to have one), but a middle tier center like Brad Miller/LaFrentz/Dale Davis. We just need someone that has soft hands, a low post game, & adequate defensive skills.

We have all the other pieces in place. They just need some time to jel together.

I'm not sure about this but I know we traded away a few of our draft picks. Would we even get the chance to use our #1 pick if we got it?

Hottie is dead on...this we do not not superstars at the position...yao ming would suit us perfectly...he can contribute right away with his smooth stroke, great hands and low post offensive and defensive game....he might be the future block champion if he stays health for 12-15 years. all we need to do is tank a little because we are right there with Vancouver.

either we get yao or we trade it away.....

I know someone who has a friend that has a cousin who is married to the person who is the brother of a sports columnist who is married to a sports director in Hong Kong : ).....really true..he says Yao is awesome and purely dominates more than any highschooler or college kid ever has done in the U.S. He said if Yao went to college here, he would be one of the greatest to play the game....he said this guy can flat out ball....if he can stay healthy and he says he has because the Chinese have had him on a specialty Olympic type training program for three years now.

He said this is a major marketing bonanza for the Olympics for them....

You know i was going to let it ride , but i can't. Hottoddie, you act as if this team is just loaded with real good players and if we're healthy we can contend. What team are you looking at. Are you looking at the same one that has walt williams, kenny thomas and catp starting? This team is extremely low on talent as eveident by going 1 and 15 without francis. If we were so talented, we should have been able to at least go 6 and 10 or something like that. I was just throwing something out there, its not like Duncan has trade veto power i was just brainstorming, but to say any team, especially this team doesn't or couldn't use a player like duncan is r****ded. Wake up and see this team for what it is a marginal playoff team at best with 1 stud, 1 above avg player and a up and coming rookie with a roster full of nba bench players for the rest. Thats it!

Cato, Taylor, and a Number 1 for who? Duncan? From the Spurs? Like one of the best five players in the league? Did you say Cato? Our Cato? Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha..............:D
O.K., here is one. How about Moochie for Iverson staight up and then we could trade Williams for McGrady and then Collier for Shaq and then......

Solid i sadi if we wound up with the number 1 overral, not a number 1 pick. Cato and Taylor would be thrown in to make salaries work. Similar to what the Wizards tried to do getting brand for the number 1 or what the clippers did by getting brand for what the number 3 or 4 pick. I think people are misreading the post. Cato makes 6mil and Taylor makes 7mil the top pick will make 3 that makes 16mil which is the most duncan can make under the cba. I said the number 1 overrall , not 1st rd pick.

O.K., sorry; I was just having some fun with you; didn't mean to be offensive. Trading Cato to anyone still strikes me as funny. I believe he would have to be the "undisclosed player to be named later" accompanied with considerable cash and "other inducements." ( the Rockets owner's first born, 500 acres of prime downtown Houston real estate, 100 jet fighters, ....);)
