We went away for the weekend and left some cantaloupe in the garbage. We came home to a swarmette of Fruitflies. How do we get rid of them?

We are doing the logical stuff like getting the fruit and vegetable garbage out of the house as quickly as possible. It's not working really well. Other ideas or, better yet, known solutions. Prefer the non-toxic route...

I've had this happen before (it's usually the bag of potatoes hidden in the very back of the pantry that I forgot about). The fruit flies have such short little lives, that once you clear out all possible food sources for them, they'll disappear pretty quickly. I wouldn't mess with sprays, etc... They'll be gone in a couple of days on their own.
