I keep hearing that we will designate Matt Schaub a June 1st cut thereby spreading his cap hit across this year's cap number and also next year's cap number and it confuses me as to why the Texans wouldn't want to get it all out of the way asap. Maybe I'm naïve but why is it a good idea to push today's problems off until tomorrow so to speak.
Looking at his contract, I believe that if he is post June 1 then he will only count as $3.5 million on the cap in 2014 (with the remaining $7 million guaranteed money going to 2015). I don't think it's necessarily a good idea to push those problems to the future, but that adds an additional $7 million to the cap this year which is kind of a big deal with a new coach coming in and a team desperate for a turnaround.
it will work out great if you can get 3 great draft classes, 2013, 2014, 2015. 2013 isn't looking so good but we'll see. must find key starters and contributors this year and 2015.
