Yes Next Monday is an important day to remember. And Not because its Garfield's Birthday . It is , The Date we drafted Hakeem Olajuwon 1st ovevall , Then Portland made the stupidest mistake in NBA history at the #2 spot by drafting Sam Bowie . Then at Number 3 came arguably the best basketball player ever in some guy named Jordan then at #4 came CB . Just think 3 of the greastest NBA Players within 4 picks . Well it will be a great day to celebrate . Oh Yeah did I mention Its my Birthday Too? I was born on the same day Hakeem was drafted ------------------ Proud owner of 271 different Hakeem Olajuwon Basketball cards
Hey but you can't forget what happened on June 18, 1984 the day right before Hakeem was drafted. That day was pretty famous too. I was born. ------------------ Cheaters never win. Unless you play for LA that is.
Better yet,3 days after the draft on the 22nd,clyde the glyde had his birthday and guess what,i was born too. Also,if i recall correctly the rockets won their first championship on june 22nd,1994. See,great things happen on june. ------------------ NEVER underestimate the heart of a champion!!! [This message has been edited by Rocket Guard (edited June 13, 2000).]

....and 12 years and 10 days after MJ was born and 12 years and 7 days after CB was born...I was brought into this world. Now thats an awesome 10 days out of the year! ------------------ We need some meat in the post!
Yeah, but June bugs suck. ------------------ What do you get when you cross a dinosaur with fireworks?
June 19th is truly a great day, it is my birthday. Nice present, eh? Anyways Portland made a monumental mistake but certainly not the worst in NBA history. They already had a player at his projected position and at the time Portland needed a center. Bowie could play before he was depleted by injuries. He couldn't play up to Jordan's level though. My birthday, the day Hakeem is drafted, I think that was the day we won game 6 to force a game 7, and possibly the day the O.J. chase interrupted the NBC coverage. If only the draft was on June 19th. ------------------
Damn, that's my birthday too. I'll be 26. I believe that makes me the youngest member of the Crew. Clutch, Jeff, and Mike are all pushing 30. Jeff's pushing it from behind, I think. Will lives close to the seat of power, Washington DC; that kind of proximity to power means he ages at approximately three times the rate of normal human beings-- like the Emperor in the Star Wars movies. Will will be celebrating his 50th soon. After they all die, I inherit the site! HA HA HA! June 19th is also Juneteenth, lest we forget.
yep june 14th and 22nd two greatest days in rocks history! ------------------ Shane "Save Our Rockets" "Life without basketball in Houston........without an arena that is what it will be"
Speaking of June 19th, is it true that Portland offered Drexler and the #2 for Sampson? If this deal had gone through and the Rockets picked MJ with the second pick, how do you think it would have affected the careers of MJ, Clyde, and Hakeem? Would they have been able to play together and to grow into the players they became? ------------------
and of course I assume that trade would have went down on draft day which was June 19th. I for one think we should make June 19th a Clutch City holiday. ------------------
My two oldest kids share birthdays with Larry Bird and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Me, I'm stuck with Emily Dickinson! ------------------ There are 3 kinds of people: those who can count and those who can't.
How spooky, exactly 5 years and 4 weeks after I was born, came that day, June 19th. Can it get any more coincedental than that? ------------------ C'mon, lets get Chuck that ring. [This message has been edited by Chuck04 (edited June 16, 2000).]
