    Not very many notable games in July IMO, but the few there seem pretty big.

    Depends. Usually about 6-8 hours, but some WUs are bigger than others, and I think I've seen some of those take 20+ hours. I'm assuming you meant on the PS3.

    I've been playing the Civilization demo, and it is pretty fun, much better than I expected (although I didn't really know what to expect). Never really got into the PC Civilization games for some reason (seems like my kind of game?), but I think I might give this game a shot.

    I can't decide if I am buying NCAA. I passed on it last year, and wasn't impressed with the demo that came out recently. It was better than last year's, but nothing special to me.

    I think when EA can put out a demo of NCAA (or Madden?) that impresses me, I might finally try out their football games. Going by the last two demos though, I don't think that will be anytime soon. I'm sure college football fans will find a lot to love with NCAA 09 (I did like a lot of the small touches), but it just disappoints me on so many levels. Only reason I play the demos are just to get rid of my itch for a football video game; otherwise, I probably would have deleted them already.

    I just meant whatever you're working with. I tried to run F@H on my 1.8ghz laptop, but that was a joke lol.

    I just found that there is a gpu client and it's running pretty well on the shiny new HD4850.... Looks to average about 3 hours per WU but I think the programmers have limited it to the simpler folds in the interest of stability and accuracy. There looks to be lots of headroom in the card, but who knows if they'll be able to fully implement all 800 stream processors.

    Crysis @1280x1024 VHigh ftw!

    As for games, I just found Supreme Commander at Best Buy for $20.

    It has been a while since I tested it on hardware other than my PS3. I think it took like 24-36 hours on my 1.8 GHz laptop, but I think maybe it took 10-14 hours on my PC (AMD X2 4200+ IIRC). Don't have a AMD/ATI graphics card though, but that sounds about right. Even though they have to simplify the WUs a bit, GPUs (and the Cell CPU, although not quite to the same extent) are pretty good at these types of computations.


    I got Supreme Commander for $15 a couple of months ago. I love it, but I can't seem to get past a few levels. At least for me, it requires a lot of focus, and I haven't really had a lot of that lately with school. I definitely want to go back and finish it at some point though.
