If you own a PS3 and haven't checked out the demo for Ninja Gaiden Sigma, do so NOW. Amazing and badass game.
Does anyone recommend getting The Darkness(PS3)? Rate these in order: Ninja Gaiden Sigma Resistance God of War 2 The Darkness
I haven't had a chance to play The Darkness yet, but from the impressions and reviews I've read, I think all 3 of those other games are better (especially since you can probably get two of them for cheap...relatively speaking). I've finished Resistance and GOW2, but I've only played the demo for NGS and I haven't played the Xbox versions. They're such different games that I'm not sure how to rate them. I only played the single-player campaign of Resistance, but I loved it (best FPS I've played since HL2...think it even does some things better than HL2); the multiplayer sounds great, so if you're wanting a quality FPS with great online play, go with that. GOW2 and NGS are more similar, but they both take different approaches (at least, from what I can tell). The battle system in NGS is a lot more complicated, basically for the "hardcore" market, while GOW2 is more for casuals who try to get by on mashing buttons (not that this will always work, especially on the harder difficulties...but I'm not even sure it will work on NGS on the easiest). In other words, NGS would be much more difficult and would require more effort in figuring out the battle system, which may or may not be of interest to you. NGS seems to have a lot more content, and will offer many more hours of gameplay in the single player campaign as well as additional hours from other modes. It seems to be more replayable than GOW2, although GOW2 is a lot more replayable than GOW1 IMO. From what I could tell, GOW2 emphasized puzzles and platforming more so than NGS, which can be really refreshing IMO. It is hard to say for sure since I haven't played NGS, but I probably would like the story in GOW2 better than NGS. I'm a sucker for Greek mythology though...it is so awesome seeing all the Titans, Gods, Sisters of Fate, some Heroes, etc., being involved with the story IMO.
I am going to get NCAA for sure. Should be fun to see the game on 360 the second time around... Also, I might get Nascar as the year progresses. I have always danced around getting that game at least once...
I have The Darkness and like it (I haven't had much time with it - just into the second level). I would rank Resistance higher though. I'm downloading the new maps as soon as I'n done here. I thought the Gaiden demo was ok. It looked really pretty, but I didn't like the camera - maybe they've fixed that. Haven't played GoW II. That is soooo last gen.
I had NASCAR 2002 (I think) and loved it. My roommate thought I was crazy for actually doing full 500 mile races. I'm going to get NCAA. I've been pretty much useless the past week or so since I can't play my horn due to my ear surgery. This should help pass the time until I get to OK to resume playing again.
Whats the point of getting the new maps? Is it for a new level or something? or is it basically me living in a certain area for ten years then one day I download yahoo maps of my area ?

You should check out (rent) Rainbow Six. I've read on another forum some PS3 owners prefer that style of FPS over Resistance. I'm probally one of those types (RB6 FPS), but I don't like renting games and I haven't been home in months. Resistance didn't really do it for me, but the game has some certain WOW factors. A few of the maps are HUGE and 32 players online with no lag is impressive. If your an old school PC FPS'er like me, console FPS will never be as good as PC's. But, If your new to the genre, you'll be pleasantly addicted.
Yea. This is actually the 3rd time they have released roughly the same game. I believe they released it twice for the xbox adding stuff here and there. I don't know the specifics. In Sigma, they added levels to the story which were previously just plotpoints. It's also visually remastered. The visual scheme reminds me of the films that have come out of China in the past few years. I was really used to the demo which consisted of just the first level. Once I got to the 3rd I was shocked to find that the game isn't set in the past as we know it. There are all these machines and blimps and stuff. I won't spoil it for anyone. Nothing can beat the shock in Knights of the Old Republic. Best plot turn in video game history. But yea, it's the same game but remastered.
It seems like most of guys here have a PS3. This is surprising considering what a failure PS3 has been so far... I also have to agree on the story for KOTOR. It is by far the best video game story that I have experienced. After beating the game almost 3 years ago, I still go back and play where the plot twists occur just to experience the great dialogue.
...anyway I know what you mean. I remember getting to that part at 2 in the morning and just looking around my room for someone to share a o.m.g gasp with. that's the best way I can describe it. You make a good point about the voice acting. That was the first game I played that made me think voice acting can be an effective tool in storytelling. I remember Final Fantasy 10 having just awful dialog and acting. It sucks going from written text which can be so voluminous and detailed to something that has to be concise because of time issues. KTOR did an amazing job though. Just Amazing. Sequel wasn't too great though.
