I didn't see the game tonight, but I did see a few DNPs. Landry and Butler didn't play at all, are they injured or something? I don't see why you wouldn't let either play at all. Brooks didn't play either, but he's a point and he has many ppl in front of him.

Am I suggesting Landry and/or Butler are out? Maybe. I want Butler to stay as the new backup to Yao when Deke leaves but maybe he's a valuable trading piece now. The Landry situation is just a big puzzle that I can't make sense of now.

Someone has said that we need to keep Reed because we owe him money. That sounds true to me, so maybe we're trying to trade away his bad contract too (did he look good tonight?).

I don't want Snyder to go, but he didn't do much tonight. It appears that Sura and JL3 are gone no matter what and I just hope that Novak is on that bus as well.

Some have suggested that Alston will stay. I don't know how I feel about that. But I feel kind of queasy about handing over the reigns to Steve and James.

Harris looks good. But he's a fouling machine. Can he play PF and SF? If so (and he can defend better) then he might stick.

SO: JL3 and Sura are gone for sure. If we can get anything for them then let's do it. Novak needs to be traded. Who would you keep out of Landry, Butler, or Snyder?

Adelman clearly stated that guys that didn't play this game would play the next.

i think adelman is trying different lineups.

i think b/c james and alston played a lot tonight, they won't play a lot the next game. i think francis and brooks will play more the next game.

adelman said he'll choose 10 different players each game and see which combos are good for the first 4 games or so of the preseason.

i think you'll get to see an expected rotation by the 5/6th game as we wrap up preseason and head to LA for the opener.

they serve no purpose on this team so who cares. if we can package them for picks along w/ alston/james/francis, then we can work on the rotation easier.

Snyder could make good trade bait to help offload Reed or Butler.

I think we should definitely jump to conclusions after one preseason game. Totally reasonable.

    Agree 100%.
In the preseason, every player will have chance, and make sure he can adapt to the lineup.

Yahoo Sports' report stated that Butler did not play due to a problem with his right ankle. I don't know if it's a fake injury or what, but that's the official explanation I guess.

I think it's probably not wise to cut/trade Butler at this point. Deke is way past 40 - seriously, look at him in pictures, he's at least 3 years older than his listed age - and while he's a contributor, it's still nice to have Butler as insurance.

Course, like what Jeff said, we probably won't have a clear idea of who's staying and who's going till after the 3rd preseason game at least.

    Why?

He's nothing spectacular, but he's solid, even in his first game out. What Battier brings to the table is unlike what anybody else brings. And he does do alot of the little things that help teams win games. So why trade him?

It's just one preseason game but Butler not playing at all seems strange. If it's another DNP on Thursday without explanation then maybe it's time to conclude he's a goner. Otherwise he should get some good floor time against the Greek team.

battier does nothing really good. oh, i forgot, he is really good at getting in the way and falling down. and by the way, he really doesn't like to score. great. really starter material. he makes alot of money to do nothing well.
i also tend to think alot of duke guys are losers. some really good players, but none are really winners.

anyway, i will probably get all sorts of insulting and rude comments, but whatever. i just think you get rid of him, sura, novak, landry, and possibly alston...although it hurts to cut a ny guy, he is clearly garbage.

get one good player and some sweet 1st round picks, and then you REALLY got a contender to beat out dallas and SA.

It's totally reasonable if you didn't watch the game at all and only went by the boxscore!

They dont need to trade any significant player. I think all the main guards are staying (skip, steve, mj, head, brooks). Snyder is gone for sure imo.

I didn't see the game and wanted opinions from people who did see it. Therefore, I could only give my opinions based on the DNPs and boxscores. Now those people who did see the game and gave good opinions, props to you. Those who got pissy and retorted with smart-ass comments take themselves way too seriously. If you don't contribute an opinion about the topic then why even post a flame? Get a life.
