He could be a valuable player off the bench. His career stats aren't eye-catching but they're respectable. Maybe they're collecting someone else for another deal down the round.
The Pistons gave this guy - whose healthy and should be in his prime, 27 mils to stay away from the team. Yes, the Pistons. The Pistons believe they can have 15 guys in their roster better than this guy. If that's not the reason for the Piston to release him, then its even worse and teams should stay away also.
If we sign Smith, I hope we make a run at both Dragic and Channing Frye. I think that would create a more dynamic front court and offense. Dragic / Beverley Harden / Beverley Ariza / Brewer Smith / Kpap Howard / Frye
Some of you forget who is calling the shots in this organization... Morey knows how to build a team a whole lot better than anyone here. Morey has liked Josh Smith for years now so if he can get him now for cheap you best believe he is going to do it.
i don't know how you could be against this move. LOW RISK with potential high reward. and keeping him off the roster of our rivals.
Everyone stop with the Goran Dragic trade. Y trade D Mo & TJ fa him? Dragic is good but y'all making it seem like he is an all team 1st team player. Bev is the perfect point guard fa this team
I wonder how much if any of the friction with Smith and SVG has to do with Smith being friends with Dwight? Is it possible Smith gave SVG attitude from day one based on the Dwight/SVG saga in Orlando? Food for thought.
Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>Yahoo Sources: Houston emerging as strongest suitor to sign Josh Smith. <a href="http://t.co/pOvHRnynRp">http://t.co/pOvHRnynRp</a></p>— Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) <a href="https://twitter.com/WojYahooNBA/status/547113454252085249">December 22, 2014</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
While this is undoubtedly true, let's not forget that Morey acquired TWill and Royce White. He makes mistakes too.
No. The Pistons are a team going nowhere that is poorly built. They never should've added him in the first place. They are cutting him because of locker room problems and the Monroe situation - and because they are in rebuild mode and want high draft picks. Smith is a very flawed player. But he can defend pretty well, run the floor and grab rebounds. He also isn't bad close to the basket. If you can get him and make sure, that he knows that he is a 3d option at best, maybe even a 4th, this could really work. He only needs to know his place. That being said, of course we don't pick up his contract. If we can get him and only spend our bi annual exception, I don't know how anyone could not like that signing. If it doesn't work out, we'd be losing almost nothing, if it does he could be the missing piece.
